Assasin Changes

    From the gist of the class page, you'd think assassin is a hit-and-run class, with vanish and such. However, in reality, it is a fairly tanky class with fairly low damage. Also, the vanish damage buff is too op, therefore, I suggest we make certain changes to assasin:

    1. change base damage to 120% (used to be 100%)
    2. change base defence to 70% (used to be 100%. Also, change the class page to 3/5 dots in defence)
    3. change vanish launch speed to 8 blocks (from 13)
    4. vanish gives jump boost 2 while active (from no jump boost)
    5. vanish damage buff becomes 70% from 80%)

    I admit I am slightly biased toward Assasin because It was my first class and only maxed one.

    I disagree. assassin is probably the most balanced class. the team should look at warrior and archer before assassin.

    Agree... Also why would you change the launch distance? If anything, make it work in all directions so you can also shoot yourself forwards. That would make the hit and run feel better. Assassin damage used to be a lot higher before they 'nerfed' spin attack and added vanish damage buff. Just saying these are really recent changes and definitely thought through well.

    while it isn't exactly a hit-and-run in the traditional sense, of attacking and then quickly backing off, you still go in, do a quick combo, or melee hit if heavy melee, and then vanish, which resets the damage buff

    this temporary vanish after every 1-2 seconds effectively acts as the "run" period, as it makes you invisible and far safer than actually running

    what does cata have to do with this. also, even if it did help, its really hard to get a mythic.

    btw sciency i changed teh launch distance because you could climb over mountains before that you shouldnt be able to get over. i guess keep it if you want,

    Cataclysm is glassy. Assassin is not "a fairly tanky class with low damages", It is a high damage class with the possibility to be either tanky with low damage, tanky with high damage, or glassy with high damage, or even glassy with low damage.

    You're basically making it a stronker, higher damaging warrior. The base defence you suggested was actually way to high. These aren't actual needs, except for vanish changes. A for effort tho.
    You do realize assassin has the potential to deal the highest damage in-game due to its vanish multihit with cata.

    8 blocks is more than enough launch distance to get over things, but it's fine as is now. No need to nerf it.

    vanish damage nerf is fine, since we know it's good already... hmm. Yeah a much better suggestion but why include it with the others...

    All these changes are extremely questionable at best, and I'd rather not say what I think they are at worst.

    Thanks for the feedback. I just felt like multihit was overshadowed by archers arrow storm. Also, rarely anyone has a cata. You shouldn’t say assassins damage is good because of one weapon

    - cata
    - grim
    - weathered
    - thrunda
    - nulli
    - sawtooth
    - black
    - the exlploited
    - limbo
    - anvil crawler

    as you can see there are actually a lot of high damage dealing daggers, and not that many that are good for tanking things, as the highest health bonus dagger only gives 4000 health, making it the least tanky out of all the classes:
    Mage - Event Horizon - 6k
    Archer - Ignis - 5k
    Warrior - Guardian - 8k
    Shaman - The Watched - 5k

    so... I don't really get your point......

    despite arrow storm being nerfed, it is still crazy overpowered

    spin was probably nerfed because of its stunlock ability, though im not an assassin main, i wouldnt know

    I really don't see how any of these changes would help assassin. I feel like assassin is in the best place of any class. If you're calling the vanish buff op, why are you buffing the damage given by vanish? A lot of ideas you have seem to completely contradict the "issues" with assassin that you stated. And how is assassin a low damage class? It has a far higher single target dps than every class besides archer, and with an especially strong build you can often outdamage archer with a good combo.

    yah arrow storm is still pretty op
    in pvp the kb and rapid damage makes it unbeatable
    in pve... the kb and AoE

    you might not want to admit it as an archer main but its true, sorry

    Hi, as an assassin main, no. None of these changes are good ideas and assassin is already in a good state, plus a lot of these contradict your reasoning
    This just lowers the skill cap of assassin, especially when combined with suggestion 5. Not to mention assassin's damage is already in a good spot, AND the fact that this would require rebalancing the damage of every dagger in the game.
    This is just a straight up nerf that doesn't even make sense; you'd have only 10% more defense than Archer, but none of the range. There's already an inherent risk factor to playing assassin; everything you do is at point-blank ranges. There's no reason to make messing more punishing than it already is, especially considering how many ranged mobs and AoE attacks exist in the game.
    There's no reason to nerf this. You're just making the early game and map traversal slower and punishing players who can actually utilize the initial jump of vanish in combat. Also, this contradicts the hit-and-run argument; you're just making it harder to actually do hit-and-runs
    Messes with the jump height stat, and there's no reason to give it jump boost since the initial jump already works well enough for scaling vertical areas.
    Just a straight up nerf, and again, assassin's damage is in a good spot.


    If you want to play assassin as a hit-and-run class, make a glass-cannon build with a lot of walk speed. Don't change the entire class's profile just to suit your needs, especially since there's already an easier solution that you can do personally.

    Well firstly, Assassin has the second highest base damage, only behind the Archer/Shaman tie.

    Secondly, Heavy melee vanish Assassin is a hit and run playstyle.

    Thirdly, Assassin's base tanking ability is third, losing to Warrior and Mage (heal).

    Fourthly, Assassin is also my first and only maxed class.

    And fifthly, Assassin is the most balanced class right now.
