    The problem:
Durability loss for armor is currently mostly based on how often you get hit.
This heavily encourages play styles which care about getting hit as little as possible and alienates tank builds from crafted armor.

    My solution:
Add a cooldown on the loss of durability on armor through getting hit. If you'd only be able to lose 1 durability/~5 seconds (wild number can def be adjusted.), it wouldn't destroy the armor so much if you tank a herde of mobs, an arrow storm or a flamethrower spell, which currently eats through your armor.

This does still keep non-defensive armor as the better choice for keeping your durability, but this way the difference is at least not as bad.

The main two I've seen and why I don't like 'em.

    - Decrease overall durability cost of defensive ingredients
This doesn't go to the root of the problem, which is that when being attacked by lots of sources, durability goes down way, way faster. This'd only make a good difference if the defensive ingredents would lose >50% of their durability costs and in some cases just straigh-up give durability to take as long to go down as the armor made for offense. If you do this, you risk the glass cannon items going slightly less glass cannon for 1K for little drawback. This would either have no effect or too much effect and I see no middle ground.

    - Make durability loss based on the amount of damage taken.
Some mobs do 5 damage, some do 5000 damage. They both shouldn't take away all durability and, since early game exists, should do something to your durability.

    other:
    - the durability loss cooldown could be an identification found specifically on very defensive ingredients.
I don't like the idea of having crafted only identifications and this would limit crafting possibilities for defensive ingredients. But that's an option.
It's important to note that, as is, this is an overall buff to ALL crafted armor. Though only durability and not power-level wise.

also I think this is a pretty decent idea, well done!
I have one problem though, the cooldown seems a little too high, maybe ~2 secs instead of 5

Generally agree with the principle, but I think durability needs more than small fixes in areas like this. We really need to at least understand exactly how durability works before we can analyze it and see how it impacts various build types.

I guess one thing to note is that at least for HIC/HICH, defensive armor is almost ALWAYS preferred over damage. This would be an outlier to your thread.

(Also crafting defensive armor (WFA) makes me excited for whatever reason.)

(Thanks so much for the dura thread though.)
