So I'm in the middle of the Temple of Legends quest when Kelight said, "He kept ranting and raving about Creepers existing, can you believe? Pfft! It's like suggesting an enderdragon will attack Detlas!" and that got me thinking, what if an enderdragon DID attack Detlas? Or perhaps not something as extreme as that, but world events in general. One time events that would be hinted at before being announced, and a bunch of players have to get to the location and either complete a big puzzle together, fight a big boss, or traverse a temporary dungeon in the hopes for high grade one chance loot.

This would promote players staying active in the world and on the forums so they can keep track of these events and when they will happen, really REALLY big ones could leave scarres on the world that we can point to with our friends and say, "I was there." And could really make it FEEL like we're in a war against the courruption/other entity. It would make the world more alive and feel like we're actually helping with the fight.

The downsides would be server capacity, lag, people feeling left out if they can't make it, maybe screwing with the economy, and probably more that I can't think of. And while I don't have any ideas for how to fix those, I wanted to put this suggestion out there just to have it in peoples minds.

Eh I kinda have an aversion to one time events for a couple of reasons. Adding one-time content is just a waste of time on the content team's end, so I don't really see it happening apart from the Wynnter fair and such. It's also just unfair, especially if you're going to award money or items for it. Especially on the one-time loot end, why should some be limited from enjoying the game to its fullest, just because they're a newer player, or because they live in an unfortunate zone, or they're going through some real-life problems right now? Like you said, it would screw with the economy, as you now have one-time collector's items like Salted's Poop, except they're actual useable gear, I'd imagine, which would make them even more crazy expensive. I really can't see why you would want to disadvantage players just because they didn't play the game at the right time.

I'm not against world events, but making them one-time deals seems like a bad idea to me. If you want to improve your game, you should improve it forever.

For those of us with busy schedules, this wouldn't be too fun, because we'd basically be missing out on awesome new content if we weren't free at the time it was released. On the other hand, I would appreciate short-term events more in line with the Wynnter Fair (I'd even love to see other seasonal events), that last for a few weeks and then any items or rewards would be still available (except maybe souvenirs). Probably they should be scaled to the level of the area, map-wide or only on one or two servers (probably more like 5 to accommodate more players) so that people who don't want to participate can avoid it. They'd have to reuse them to make them worth the time to develop, but I'd be okay with that as long as they're fun. Something like sieges (I feel like fewer and fewer people remember these), where a city's walls are destroyed and zombies come pouring in would fit with the game and would be something they could easily reuse.

I think I would definitely be up for one time events as it would make the world feel a bit more alive and changing I guess? But at the same time one-time rewards whilst have been done in the past are now almost always to be gotten (apart from like Santa's breastplate and some halloween one). Although I think the ending dragon fighting some people at Detlas would be a bit too simple imo

World Events, and events in general, are really fun ways to spice up the game. However, I don't think it'd be fun for there to be a one-time event, an event that would never come again, and this is for several reasons. It's primarily because there's a good chance players would be left out and never get to experience this again. This just doesn't apply for old or active players, but even new players who join Wynncraft and who will never get to experience this (For example, I'm sure a good sum of people in the community haven't experienced a "Swarm" before, like me).

Even if there was, it would have to be an extremely special occasion, such as Wynncraft's anniversary. Perhaps in the future we'll have world events, hell I'd even be fine if they came around once a couple of months or maybe even a year.

One time events are things that happen only once, just like quests. Even if you give them different rewards and, it’ll just be a quest with better rewards. The only different thing is that they can only happen once, imo its not worth it for content that can only be played once.

Either this is a new thread, a lot of comments got deleted, or a time traveler. I disagree with this being like "oh, be there 5:00 UTC or be square." people do work and have real lives.

Now if it's like an instance thing that you can set up a time with your friends to go too over the span of a month (And a mass grouping of players do the 'first' then you can still have your "I was there!" and still allow people who have lives play these events or whatever on their own time.

You're missing that it's a public event with many players all participating, not a quest, it's an event.

I'm guessing the time is not like a single hour, instead it could be like 2 days or smthn.

For example, let's put in a boss with, let's say, 10 billion health. People can try to damage it in groups, and after a certain time, or when they all die, that attempt is over. Every person could have, like, uhh, 3 attempts or something. If the boss is killed by Wynncraft's players, they are given rewards based on how much damage they did.

That's the type of thing I thought this could be implemented as.

This does remind me of a part of what I wrote for @WithTheFish's writing contest for what we think wynn would be like in 2025.
    sauce

I do have to agree with others here, having it be 1 time and just gone after is a waste of a lot of time and effort. Recurring events would be cool though.
