?

Should smaller quantities of more powerful mobs be added for boss fights to reduce lag?

This is a simple idea that I think would improve Wynncraft by a lot; adding less, more powerful mobs in during boss fights instead of larger quantities of ez-kill mobs. The more mobs (entities) there are, the more lag the player seeing them could have. Also, people with bad computers might not be able to complete those boss fights because of low fps. An example of this would be the level 68 quest Temple of Legends boss Corrupter of Worlds- Adding less, more powerful mobs would make it more fair for people with bad computers.

    Add poll
Also I think this would be a good addition especially considering my computer isn't the fastest of computers, and especially when I lag before entering a boss room in dungeons and the minions collectively deal half my health in damage

I would like this change even regardless of the lag factor. enemy spam in games tends to not be the most enjoyable thing to deal with as a player, especially when the mass of enemies are ranged. I feel like I enjoy wynn more when I'm having a duel with a powerful foe rather than spamming my best aoe ability to kill that foe and his minions.

on a side note, the main offenders of mob spam I'd say are: Qira, The Eye, Tower of Ancesion floors (qira hive solved this issue already), Bovine Barn (not necessarily a mass of enemies, but the way the scarecrows are positioned makes it really hard to defeat them without getting hit a ton especially at early levels), Haros, Tribal Sanctuary, and possibly various others I missed.

while I do hate mob spam, it can be utilized especially well in the right situations, some examples being Plague Doctor and Orange W/Cybel. that being said, some of my favorite bosses are the ones that are face to face duels with a uniquely designed foe, such as rymek luke, bob, and prison of souls, so I hope to see more bosses like that in the future.

As someone who uses a lifesteal warrior, I could see issues with this, but I would absolutely prefer that. Bob is and has always been my favorite boss in this game (especially since the patch), largely because it was like a duel between two extremely powerful warriors (well, I mean, my warrior was never powerful, but the other 4 classes were) rather than a swarm of enemies mobbing me and instantly annihilating my sorry self like a drone strike on an anthill. The swords are great as backup, but respawn slowly, so rather than a swarm of enemies, it's an additional mechanic to take into account. If you kill them, you can fight him without them, but only for a while until they respawn.

On the other end of the spectrum we have Qira, Mistress of Swarming-you-to-death-with-a-thousand-spiders. She's a pretty good boss by herself, but the spiders honestly make the fight really annoying unless you're going for lifesteal. I'd rather have set waves, or just a certain number that respawn slowly like the swords. I wish there was a better way to make a fight balanced without just shoving in a swarm of enemies.

I like this idea in theory, though I feel like this would take away from fights such as the boss of infected pits ( bug swarm logic ) if done too much in that direction

I, for one, like having lots of mobs during boss fights, because it makes the entire fight feel more engaging. One thing I would support would be making it so that only boss mobs could make particles in boss fights. However, getting rid of boss minions in Wynncraft is a TERRIBLE idea. The boss minion phenomenon is the biggest reason people use Mana Steal (and Life Steal, to a lesser extent). Using lag as a prime reason to propose getting rid of boss minions is not good for the community, because there are people that do not experience lag in these boss fights, and it would take away from their experience. Crowd control would become unimportant and DPS on one mob would become the prevailing damage strategy.
Now, as for changing a certain few boss fights with minions to having less minions, rather than across the board, I would be much less opposed to that. Still, the change I think that should happen here would be particle-related.
I believe that if boss minions no longer used attacks that created a large amount of particles, it would fix a lot of lag issues. There might be some other lag issues where it is the mobs themselves causing the lag, but that doesn't warrant thinning their numbers in my opinion.

I agree- boss minions are important to making the fight more challenging, and the particles help my fps as much as the large amount of entities. The second time mobs spawned in the CoW cave (Temple of Legends quest) My computer would always have an fps fit, due to just how many entities my computer was having to process. I got through the lag this time but then got mashed by the real boss. Luckily lag wasn't a problem this time around.

Funny how first I couldn't do the first stage due to lag, and then I died to the real boss just cause I sucked.
