I'm sure anyone whos done a boss like Qira or Orange Cybel has come across the issue in which a party member doesn't deal enough damage to gain a token. Weather this be because you're a tank, a healer, or you're playing with an archer with a crafted bow, its probably been an issue.

My suggestion is simple, brodcast a message (Like death messages) when a player has done enough damage to a boss in order to gain a token. This isn't a fix for what is a fundamenttaly a bad system, but it is something that can hopefully remedy some issues with the current one.

This could indirectly encourage more people to play tank. Perhaps tanks wouldn’t also need to do as much damage and instead absorb damage (In wars there is a statistic that shows which player took the most damage, if I remember correctly).

 

Not a fan of having big words block a good chunk of my screen when I'm in the middle of a fight. I agree that there should be a change to prevent the issue of players not earning a token, but I don't think this is it.

You realize this change is a fairly simple one and can be put together with any other solution, or even a new system.
But yeah, I'm not sure why there would be big words on your screen.

Ahhh ok. I guess I just misunderstood what you were saying. If it's only in chat, that's completely fine then.

 

this would only ever be used when you want your level 100 friend to help you cheese CoW, Death or something similar,
Also if you are alone it is really just a chat spam.
I think is a useless addition that only helps people not play the game correctly and wastes Dev time

 

Yeah, I can tell you've never played anything but archer and assassin.
Don't act as if support classes and tanks don't exist.
Here's my advice, go run Li with a warrior or a support mage, and have luck dealing enough damage.
You will fail, and you will be left behind in order to do the boss yourself.

Also, if your alone, then it's a single message in your chat.

 

How about remove the feature in general.

 

You still need a looting system of some kind?

 

If you hit the mob within a certain time frame get the drop maybe? Anything other than what we have now.

 

Thats very, very cheeseable.

 

Obviously there would need to be other measures but pretty much anything is better than the anti tank bullshit we have now.

I don’t think it is truly needed. I think it is clear enough how much dmg you do. If your playing an upper lvl build that was at least somewhat good. You know how much dmg your going to be doing.

 

As someone who's managed to not get tokens on a high damage archer, this isn't true. Even though you might have done 90% of the damage before the final firm, if you don't get enough damage on that form you get left behind.

 

To avoid the issue of it spamming players when they are alone, perhaps only have the message show up when you are in a party. When you have a group of friends who are in a voice chat it's easier to coordinate, but even then there are times where you still don't get the token/drop. Especially during stuff like LI where you're fighting boss after boss after boss. Doing LI with 4 people is possible, but difficult. Even with 3 people, sometimes one person lucks out. I like the idea, but perhaps consider the party suggestion
