I just accidentally dropped my main weapon in a hopper, some captain guy got commented on it or whatever. Don't let hoppers take in any items, if since it can detect that it is not the correct item maybe even give it back to you?

I experimented with a system that gave back items dropped in hoppers that weren't required, but unfortunately you could trade untradeable items with it which isn't really something I could get around with only commands. In future, I suggest using /itemlock on important items to avoid this in future. It's also worth noting that we're generally using less hoppers around the map these days, switching to a less risky system such as right clicking.

Changing your drop key is also not a bad idea; q is easy to hit on accident but "delete" or "page up" is far harder to hit accidentally, so even unlocked items (lock 'em anyway though) won't be as easy to accidentally drop.

A system which only accepts a specific item is very much possible, but it would be even better if all hoppers gets switched out for a hopperless right-click system like in dungeons.

That said, /lock all your equipment.
