The majority of gathering spots in Wynncraft aren't used. Since Resource Nodes are all client-side, the main gathering spots that are used are those with the highest node count. The rest are unused and are there for... I guess world liveliness? Don't know, but either way, they're unused.

So Gathering Spot Types are pretty simple to understand: Certain types of Gathering Spots have some sort of uniqueness or benefit to them. For example:

Rich Gathering Spot: These spots aren't plentiful (9-12 nodes), however each node is rich in material and give a lot more XP than a normal resource node would. This would be used for leveling professions easier.

Plentiful Gathering Spot: As the name suggests, these spots yield more resources. Each node yields 2 resources instead of 1. However, they give less XP than a normal node.

These are a couple of examples, but would definitely help with making some of the spots used more and also making the profession experience a little more enjoyable (and tolerable).

as there are fixed spawn locations for resources the idea wouldn't work the way you intend it to (cool nonetheless)

Yes I know that there is. Even then, I don't believe it's hard to simply define a resource as a type with some work.
The idea isn't to add more nodes, it's just changing their XP gain amounts or their resources yield.

While we're on the topic of improving professions, here are some very not elaborated suggestions:
    - Professions quests (requires professions levels instead of combat levels and give prof xp)
    - Unique gathering tools (probably from prof quests, have special bonuses that make them unique and better than dungeon drops)
    - Legendary gathering tools (like 3 per profession, very rare and have strong bonuses)
here's an example of the extra gathering tools for the axe:

Probably not balanced but oh well
    - Add a new crafting profession for crafting gathering tools (pickaxe/axe made with bars and oil, scythe/fishing rod made with wood and oil)
    - Give items IDs that increase prof XP/speed
    - Saturday Work events (extra prof xp or speed every saturday)

idk what else but there's a lot to improve and to make professions more fun to do
Also I like your suggestion as well so I hope devs will think about it

This is something we needed man. The Mirror legendary thing isn't really needed since mobs stop seeing you as soon as you start gathering.
