What Are Skills?

This is going to sound bad but I haven't played in a while so could anyone link me to a guide on all the mining, jewelry, cooking, farming etc. I just want to understand this lol..

 

Hm I really should write a guide about professions in general.

 

"skills" is probably not the best term to describe this, they're generally called professions.

There are 4 gathering professions. You use a tool (such as a pickaxe) to gather resources from certain areas, and then you can refine those resources. While doing this your level for that gathering profession will increase, and you can gather better resources as you level up.

Those resources you gather can be used to craft items. There are 8 different crafting professions total, and you also need to level them up through crafting if you want to create higher level stuff. You can also use ingredients found around the map to change your crafted items stats.
