(for the purposes of this thread I'll ignore the existing continuous updating reroll bug, and concern myself with how the system is intended to work)

Currently, when an item gains a new identification - for example, Knucklebones gaining +tier - when the push happens, the item gets an additional random roll for that ID. Essentially it's like an initial identification of the item, but only for the new ID(s).

This can play havoc with market value when an item gets a new ID. For example, the upcoming addition of -mr and +ms to Fatal will likely cause some of the current best Fatals to become some of the worst in the game.

I suggest instead of taking a random roll, the new rolls should be equal to the mean roll of the other IDs. For example, if you had a 78% Fatal, your mana steal and mana regen would both receive rolls of 1.09. Of course this isn't a perfect solution - sometimes items will have good rolls in important stats but bad rolls in less important stats (e.g. the current best Idol is 50-something % if I remember correctly). However, this would at least avoid massive changes in item prices from the addition of new stats.

I would suggest instead of a mean roll of all the ids just the important ids to the item, for example, divzer has -agi -fire damage and -water damage all of those don't really matter but effect the overall mean roll like you mentioned. I mean if they could make a change like this around a mean roll surely they can make it around the ones that matter.

This requires the CT to ascertain important IDs for every item.

It could only be for mythics or maybe they could just not include negative ids into the equation.

This would make rerolls a bit too good imo, and rerolls are meant to be risky.

No, only the newly added rolls would be, well, a whole new roll. The thing that sucks about that, is when the new identification matters a lot for the price of the item, like the upcoming Fatal change and the recent Knucklebones. Your Fatal worth 7 stx could get the worst mana steal/regen rolls and now be worth, like, 3 stx (not too certain on mythic prices so estimates). I think you can figure out yourself why that would be bad. And while not all items with new identifications would be as significant as Fatal, a lot of armor is supposedly getting mana regen- which can also change prices up a lot.

Drusers suggestion really just makes the update easier for people with and without money, seeing as good stays good and bad stays bad. Oh, and people wouldn't be hoarding low-percentage id-ed gear when they hear it's getting new identifications *cough* Virgo *cough*.

Good suggestion, would at least alleviate this issue.
