World Melee Damage --> Attack Damage

Basically change the ID name from Melee Damage to Attack Damage to prevent newer players from getting confused.

 

Spells are attacks. Would have a similar issue.

No one's been able to come up with one that's not way too long or unwieldy to say. Classifying the basic attack as "melee" is the best anyone's been able to come up with aside from "Basic Attack Damage" which is too unwieldy to say.

I mean, this maybe a bit simple but what about just base?

Base attack.
Base attack damage.

Its not to unwieldly and its simple.
The only issue I see is it being confused with a weapons base damage.

(I also thought of primary, which I really like the sound of, and it gets the idea across, but it would probably suggest that spells aren't a suggested way to play.)

It's only one letter shorter than Basic Attack Damage, and you just admitted yourself it doesn't solve the issue...

It would indeed, considering how little emphasis spells get in the tutorial, and that the very first ingredient anyone will find is Rotten Flesh, which provides melee damage.

 

To be far, i just thought base sounded better then basic

 

I'd rather have it 'Normal (or Basic) Attack Damage' and 'Spell Attack Damage' because in my opinion it sounds perfectly fine and it will also fix the issue.

I don't think the length of the name would break how it sounds, and if ever needed a shortened name, then it could be made Atk (in the worst scenarios though)

 

Saying it is part of the problem too, not just text length.

X "Attack" damage is a bit redundant, seeing as there's no abilities that aren't attacks which deal damage.

 

How bout simply "Base Damage" or "Basic Damage" it has the same number of characters as "spell damage"?

Personally I'm a fan of basic damage. I'm not entirely certain how confusing this actually is to new players though. It seems like it should be confusing, but it rarely comes up in Youtube/streams.

 

Base damage affects spells, as that's the damage innate to the weapon. It hasn't got enough distinction from spell damage.
