My Gripes About The Crafting System

    The crafting system is a great concept. We may now finally build however we want much more easily. But the system as a whole is exorbitantly clunky. The first thing I noticed when I began playing was that inventory space is now pretty much gone. Unrefined resources take up any inventory space you will ever dream of having. And now that almost no items are useless because they can be used as ingredients, we’re never going to be throwing away junk items anymore. Bye bye inventory. And why aren’t crafting levels kept global across all characters? It’s such a drag to have to train ALL of them just to craft with ingredients you should be able to use if you already got to the level. And tools are also annoying inventory hogs. T

    How about this: tools should just appear in your hand when you go to mine/fish etc., not actually take up an inventory slot. Upgrading them could be a one time expenditure and from then on, the upgraded tool will be the one to appear in your hand.

    Resources and ingredients should be kept in an entirely separate inventories, considering they are the only items with weight. Maybe with a backpack or something.

    TL;DR crafting system makes inventory space a joke.

    Backpacks would be a better idea than it switching to your tool randomly. Plus it has been hinted at since I don’t see it being too difficult to implement and the like. Either way yes inventory space is a pain.

    With regards to crafting levels being the same across all characters, well that just doesn’t make much sense. Sure it would be convenient but it makes no practical sense in game. While I don’t know of a perfect solution to the crafting levels (I doubt you can find one) they do need a rework of sort.
