When I first played the new update in the 1.18 Hero Beta, I was pretty hyped when i discovered some of the mushrooms in Nivla Forest were farmable and could be used to gain ingredients instead of materials that could be used in crafting. However after the Nivla mushrooms, the only other ingredient I found that was harvestable was bamboo. Seriously? I'm sure there may have been some ingredients I may have missed, but my point still stands. Here are some new ingredient concepts around items I, and many other members of the Wynncraft community think should be harvestable as an incentive for exploration and grinding professions. If anything else, I want to see more harvestable ingredients in game. Even if none of the ones I or anyone else put on here get in, but this idea still reaches the item team for future updates, I will be satisfied.

Edit: I've reopened the thread due to me realizing this idea is a pretty good one that I honestly would really like to see in the game. Gathering resources is very boring and grindy right now, and I would really like to see some new harvestable ingredients, even if they aren't my own.

Edit 2: Revised some ingredients, added two new Dernic ideas, added more to randomized fishing locations.

    Woodcutting
    1. Giant Brown/Red Mushrooms (Lvl 1) (Maybe 5?)
    Location: Nivla Forest, Detlas Plains

Okay, this was a fairly obvious one. If small mushrooms on logs can be harvested in nivla, why cant I cut down the big ones near Yayha's to get the same ingredient? These giant mushrooms can be found all over the Wynn Plains area, and should all give mushrooms upon harvesting.

    Ingredients Dropped: Mushroom

    2. Palm Trees (Lvl 10) (Maybe 15?)
    Location: Pirate Cove, Ocean

Most "palm" trees around Corkus are harvestable Jungle trees, yet surprisingly the palms around Pirate Bay aren't granted the same privilege. I'm not asking for these to be a new resource, just asking that they might give an ingredient.

Ingredients Dropped: Palm Wood? Maybe Palm Bark?

    3. Giant Trees (Lvl Depends)
Location: Near the Infested Pit Dungeon, Above the Underworld Crypt Dungeon, other areas

In the new Wynncraft tutorial, there is a massive "oak" tree we must cut down to get across a canyon. Trees similar to this one can be found in a small patches in other areas, yet are not able to be cut down. In the tutorial, one of these trees alone is able to give 2 pieces of wood, and I think these trees should be no different.

Ingredients Dropped: Unrefined _ Wood 2x

    4. Cactus (Lvl 30)
    Location: Almuj Desert

I didn't think of this one originally, but then another player pointed it out that cacti should be harvestable with an axe. He also said the ingredient should be thorns related, which makes a lot of sense.

Ingredients Dropped: Small Cactus? Prickly Pear?

    5. Iceshrooms (Lvl 40)
    Location: Nesaak River

In the new update, an interesting and cool thing was added by the sides of the Nesaak River, Iceshrooms! Sadly however, they are unharvestable. These new mushrooms should drop some interesting new ingredients like...

    Ingredients Dropped: Iceshroom

    6. Dead Trees (Lvl 50)
Location: Detlas Battlefield, Twain Manor, Kander Forest, Death's Manor

The wood from these trees may be useless as materials, but who's to say that they are totally useless? Maybe their bark could be useful.

Ingredients Dropped: Rotten Wood/Dead Bark/Dead Wood

    7. Darkshroom (Lvl 60)
    Location: Dark Forest

Similarly to the other mushrooms, mushrooms in the dark forest could drop some Dark Forest specific mushroom but eh.

    Ingredients Dropped: Darkshroom

    8. Tainted Lightshroom (Lvl 70)
Location: Light Forest, Big Picture Cave

Yes, more big mushrooms. I just feel like they should have a purpose outside of just looking pretty, sue me. The reason I use tainted is because these mushrooms are outside the Realm of Light.

    Ingredients Dropped: Tainted Lightshroom

    9. h489npfw84! (Lvl 9999 [Technically 70])
    Location: Trippy Forest

There should be more reason to visit the trippy forest besides just simple lootrunning and basic easter eggs, so why not add some weird ingredients which must be harvested from weird trees?

Ingredients Dropped: Totally Rad Wood? maybe just Unprocessed Light Wood?

    10. True Lightshroom (Lvl 75?)
    Location: Realm of Light

Similarly to the light forest, the Realm of Light also has giant glowing mushrooms that should be harvestable. These ones should be better because they require more work to get and should be a higher level ingredient than tainted lightshrooms.

    Ingredients Dropped: Pure Lightshroom

    11. Obsidian Tree (Lvl 90)
    Location: Outside Maex, likely elsewhere

The only species of tree in the Molten Heights. Its bark should give our armor some strong fire resistance... right?

Ingredients Dropped: Obsidian? or Obsidian Bark?

    12. Warped Tree (Lvl 105?)
Location: Through Gateway Island's Portal/Possibly somewhere on the RTD?

This area is speculated to have something to do with the Dern decay by many players, and whether it is Dern itself or simply some Pre-Dern decay area is still up for speculation, however it is undeniable that this area contains unharvestable trees.

Ingredients Dropped: Warped Bark? Warped Wood?

    13. Eldritch Tree (Lvl 110 maybe 115?)
    Location: Near Eldritch Outlook

Yep. Again another cool tree that we cannot cut down. I know the build team probably just wants some of these to just be decorations, but Wynncraft is about immersion, not just about admiring builds. Plus, the oak trees around Troms are just for decoration, but we can still cut those down, can't we?

    Ingredients Dropped: Eldritch Bark
    Mining
Okay, right off the bat, yes, I am aware that many types of materials are missing from Wynncrafts many mines, yet I'm not here to complain and beg for materials that would never fit, just some materials I think would make sense for the overall feel of Wynncraft.
    1. Emerald (Lvl 10)
Location: Emerald mine close to the Roots of Corruption/Abandoned Emerald Mines on RTD

Lets start off with something simple. Remember the good ol' days of the emerald relic? Now lets make it more modern by allowing players to use the emerald mines to their advantage. Only one emerald per ore wouldn't be too bad, in fact, it would probably not be a viable option at all, but why not have it?

    Ingredients Dropped: 1E

    2. Corrostone (Lvl 20)
    Location: Roots of Corruption

Pretty simple, I think the roots of corruption should be a little more interesting than just a quest area. Adding some ores would help to spice it up and give players more reason to travel to the roots.

    Ingredients Dropped: Corrostone Ore

    3. Packed Ice (Lvl 40)
    Location: Lusuco

The main reason I added to this is that for a game based on Minecraft, Wynncraft has lost some of it's Minecrafty feel. Not to mention, alot of ice-based ingredients have already been implimented, so why not have one gained from mining instead of relentless killing?

    Ingredients Dropped: Super-Packed Ice

    4. Quartz (Lvl 40)
    Location: Karoc Quarry

Imagine being thirsty surrounded by seawater. That is how I feel going into Karoc Quarry. All the happy little villagers mining away at the quartz, yet I can't have any of it?

    Ingredients Dropped: Quartz

    5. 589gssg0697f? (Lvl 9999[Technically Lvl 70])
    Location: Trippy Forest

Another ingredient inside the trippy forest. This could either give the player the same ingredient as the trees, or a different one, doesn't really matter.

Ingredients Dropped: Rainbow Gem/Unprocessed Cobalt Ore

    6. Red/Blue/Yellow Meteorite (Lvl 1)
    Location: Red/Blue/Yellow Meteors

Instead of killing the shard to obtain the meteor shards, I feel like the shards should be mined instead. The red/blue/yellow ones wouldn't give ingredients, just the misc. items needed to get into Sosho's lab.

    Ingredients Dropped: Meteorite Shard

    7. Meteorite (Lvl 80)
    Location: White Meteors

Since we've learned through Order of the Grook what exactly meteorite's purpose is in crafting, I feel like we should be granted to opportunity to use it in our crafted jewelry.

    Ingredients Dropped: Meteorite Shard (Ingredient)

    8. Draconic Bone (Lvl 90)
Location: Bones around the Molten Heights

At this point you have gotten so good at mining, you are able to mine what previously required a drill to mine. Still does not change the DnD quests even if you are able to mine the bones without assistance.

    Ingredients Dropped: Draconic Bone Marrow

    Farming
    1. Assorted Berries (Lvl 1 or 10)
Location: Any bush uses the blackberry/strawberry heads

This is pretty straight forward, logs with mushrooms are farmable but not berry bushes?

    Ingredients Dropped: Sweet Berries

    2. Cattails/Rushes (Lvl 1 or 10)
    Location: Water

Let me first preface this by saying that not all cattails and rushes need to be farmable, but some of them should be. Of course the ingredient would need to be incredibly benign, but just having the option would make the farming just a tiny bit more fun.

    Ingredients Dropped: Thin Reeds

    3. Coral (Lvl 20)
    Location: Sevale Reef

Alright look. I get that coral isn't exactly something that is farmed, but I still am going to include it none the less. This does NOT mean we need to switch over to 1.13, as underwater block models will be just as good.

    Ingredients Dropped: Coral

    4. Venus Fly Trap (Level 50)
    Location: Dernel Jungle

The jungle, a place with tons of life, yet these is absolutely nothing farmable inside it. This fly trap thing is not at all set in stone, but I definitely thing there should be something farmable inside the jungle.

Ingredients Dropped: Jungle Foliage? Not sure about this one

    5. MY MUSHROOMS! (Lvl 9999[Actually 70])
    Location: Trippy Forest

You are going to pay for even daring to look at those mushrooms, just you wait.

Ingredients Dropped: Yahya's Mushrooms? Ordinary Mushrooms?

    6. Bok Choi (Lvl 80)
    Location: Lost Canyon Bamboo Fields

Lets add to the China theme of rice, bamboo, and pandas with some bok choi! (I don't know the English spelling)

    Ingredients Dropped: Bok Choi

    7. Starfruit (Lvl 100)
    Location: Near Ahmsord

Starfruit is truly a boring fruit in real life, however adding some around Ahmsord would add to the "sky-high" atmosphere of the place, don'tcha think?

    Ingredients Dropped: Starfruit

    8. Dernic Flowers (Lvl 105 maybe 110?)
    Location: Eyeball Forest

One addition I really liked in the Eyeball forest was the presence of creepy flowers. While I'm not so sure about the larger ones being farmable, I think some of the smaller ones definitely could be.

Ingredients Dropped: Silent Flowers? Dernic Flowers?

    Fishing
Okay look. I don't fish much in Wynncraft. If you have any suggestions on how I can improve this section, it would be a great help.

    1. ??? (Lvl Depends on Location)
Location: Water Sources throughout the map

These are the new type of fishing spots, junk/treasure fishing spots. If it is at all possible to code, these spots could give crappy ingredients based on worse versions of common ingredients in the level range of the area, unique ingredients within the level range of the area, and even unique items. The unique items wouldn't be great, likely only unique/rares with maybe one or two legendaries, but definitely NO MYTHICS OR FABLEDS (Unless the item team desires it, but personally I think this would be a bad idea).
Ingredients and Items in Wynncraft are based off of a hidden rarity drop system, as outlined in some of Wynndata's descriptions on how to obtain rare items/ingredients. I propose that fishing in one of these areas uses a similar system, except unlike killing monsters, fishing would always give one item, and one item only. This would mean that the basic logic of the code would have to roll whether the item is of higher rarity, and then keep going down the chart. Rarity 1 items will always be available, because it is impossible for an item not to drop. The code would have to always select the highest rarity that rolled a success. For example: Lets say these are the rolls for each item,
    R1 Y
    R2 N
    R3 Y
    R4 Y
    R5 N
Therefor a Rarity 4 item will be dropped. I hope this makes sense, if someone knows a bit more about logic and coding specifics than I do, feel free to revise this.

    Ingredients Dropped: Depends on Location

    2. Clownfish (Lvl 10)
    Location: Sevale reef

Nemo, is that you? Some tropical fish would be interesting, considering that the ocean has tons of different kinds of fish besides the mundane fish wynncraft has.

    Ingredients Dropped: Clownfish

    3. Pufferfish (Lvl 20)
    Location: Ocean

Again like the last one, except pufferfish would be rarer and in the middle of the sea. Finding pufferfish spots would be tough, but definitely not impossible

    Ingredients Dropped: Pusherfish

    4. Ghostfish (Lvl 50)
    Location: Twain Manor

Again, another way to make players explore a little bit more, and what better than fishing in some creepy water in a creepy place for some creepy fish. Totally creepy.

    Ingredients Dropped: Ghostfish

    5. Lava Leviathan (Lvl 55)
    Location: Volcanic Isles

Why just have one type of lava-dwelling fish? Why not have two? Lava Leviathans would not be a resource of course, but they would be interesting ingredients.

    Ingredients Dropped: Smoldering Leviathan Tooth

    6. Mutant Fish (Lvl 55)
    Location: Olux Sewers

Again, another type of regional specific type of fish. This one would be a bit more interesting however, as it uses the common urban legend of mutated things living in the sewers.

    Ingredients Dropped: Mutated Fish

    7. Tiny Whales (Lvl 9999[Actually Lvl 70])
    Location: Trippy Forest

Yes, its the trippy forest again. But then again, the trippy forest is supposed to warp everything about Wynncraft, so why not make resource gathering whilst in the trippy forest weird and funny as well?

Ingredients Dropped: Tiny Whale? Unprocessed Trout?

    8. R5-Series Utility Drone (Lvl 80)
    Location: Robot-Dominated Areas in Corkus

Yes I know, this technically is not a fish. I still like the idea because it fits with the robot domination idea that Corkus has and makes it just a tiny bit more interesting to explore. Of course, all of the new computer parts did that as well, but getting all of those heavily rely of combat grinding instead of other types of grinding.

    Ingredients Dropped: R5-Series Utility Panel

    9. Rockfish (Level 90)
    Location: Frozen Heights

The Ice Heights recently was given meaning in the new quests, however I still think there needs to be more of a reason to stay and explore the Ice Heights. The reason these are "Rockfish" Is because they used to be in lava but have since cooled down due to the lava.

    Ingredients Rockfish

I really think that these new resources would not only give players more incentive to explore the world, but also give players an incentive to pursue professions they previously didn't care about. For example, I chose to main specialize in farming, mining, and woodcutting, but saw no reason to fish as I didn't require the resources acquired from fishing in any types of crafting I was pursuing. If there where more interesting fish I could use as ingredients for my armor however, I would have more incentive to take up fishing and become one of the best.

    Nice idea.
But the idea about the trippy forest has some problems. It’s just the light forest while you are high, so why would it give diferrent ingridients?

Hey there! I have actually thought about this myself. I think you might want to specify what the ingredients would be. another could also be cacti in the desert which would give you thorns

Definitely a good idea. Its more realistic than having to solely rely on killing mobs to get ingredients. Not everything comes from living creatures in the real world, nor should it here.

This is a great suggestion, just I dont agree on the meteor shards thing. It would suck to go all the way to a meteor only to find out you either didnt bring a pickaxe or arenr level 80 in mineing yet and not be able to get the shard
