World Relics - A Way To Add More Lore

Anyone who has been playing for a while may remember relics, there were secret relics and non-secret relics and tbh, both were kinda underwhelming and have been removed. This thread is not about them though xD

My suggestion is that across the world (in one or two places per region) there should be some sort of mini puzzle and parkour etc hidden away and when you reach the end of it, you get a relic (for example, ice relic, canyon relic, desert relic etc.), these could then be taken to the Temple of Time and when thrown in, would teleport the player to a cutscene of the past. This could be used to fill in lore holes and it would fit in well in my opinion as the same has been done for the quest Fate of the Fallen.

It would be useful for explaining areas such as Dullahan Mansion, Ternaves Prison, Jungle Tribes and other places which lack lore or in some cases have nothing known about them.

They could provide a new kind of discovery and xp (or not)

EDIT: Relic armours are back in the game as of 1.18, so I suggest re-naming these lore items to artefacts instead (Thanks A Human;) )

 

This is a pretty good idea, my only suggestion is that the relics come from areas nearby where you'll be seeing in the past, and are related to what you see, instead of "oh ice block is in the desert that allows you to see the jungle in the past".

 

That's how I intended it to be, sorry if that wasn't clear xD Would be a bit odd to find a cutscene relating to the sky islands when you got the relic from the desert or something like that xD

 

You shoold probably change the name to ‘Time Relics’ or ‘Artifacts’ or something to avoid confusing people. I avoided this thread at first thinking it was about the removed Relic feature and that there would be a flamewar, others might do the same.

This was done for Tier 3 and 4 Loot Chests, they now have a special puzzle or parkour to go through if you want to reach them. Also, Relics were re-added via a mob that's called a Relic Guardian who drops one of 6 elemental armors (maybe weapons)

 

I love learning about the lore so I'm all for this. It'll also give more of a use to the temple of time, I thought that place was way too gorgeous to rarely go to.
