Dungeons Dungeon Mini-quests [15 Supporters 88% Approval]

    I'll start this off with saying this is not the quests you need to do to access dungeons like Ragni's Sewers

    That being said, y'all know World of Warcraft? I was think of something along those lines.

    Say you are running through underworld crypt. One of the first people you encounter is General Graken. After he says the first bit of dialogue to you the underworld crypt dungeon mini-quest will have started.

    Your quest book would essentially guide you through the dungeon with additional sidegoals. These sidegoals would provide additional rewards like extra dungeon tokens and/or a small amount of bonus xp when you finish the dungeon.

    After completion of the dungeon the mini-quest will reset so it can be completed multiple times. If you are not in the dungeon then the mini-quest will not be visible from the quest book.

    That pretty much sums up the idea, so I will put some of the quests down below in the spoilers.

    Aight let's get into it. I won't repeat any additional info like the mini-quest level as that goes along with the dungeon level.

    General Graken: I say old chap, didn't expect to see any of the old Ragni regiment down 'ere.

    General Graken: Those blighting zombies are all over the place. I tell ya, this tree's been giving the folk in Nemract the collywobbles.

    [3/9] General Graken:
    Now, I don't wish to alarm you old bean, but I believe we are in front of the literal gates to hell.

    [4/9]
    General Graken: Not to worry fella! Don't look so glum, I've called for aid from the nearby towns, once they get here we'll give them a good kicking.

    [5/9]General Graken:
    Now is finally our chance to take down his army... It will be a jolly difficult battle, knowing our opponent.

    [6/9] General Graken:
    If you wish to assist in the war effort, meet me in front of his door, right after crossing the river. Good luck old bean.

    [7/9] General Graken: Hol' on there my good fellow. I nearly forgot, this ol' mind of mine has seen better days.

    [8/9] General Graken: As yer approaching the gate to Charon's domain please keep an eye out for his Cerberi.

    [9/9] General Graken: His filthy lapdogs have thwarted many attempts to cross the river to his door. Try not to get yourself killed. Pip pip, off you go.

    The dungeon will then continue on normally until you reach the boat. Here you have a choice. Either ride the boat across to the other side, or enter a large cave just to the right of the river.

    Inside the cave are three wolf entities. I don't understand anything to do with stats, so I'll leave that to your discretion.

    These creature will act with the charge based AI and use charge and flamethrower spells. Their elemental damage and defense would be fire and earth based, and they would have a weakness to water and air damage

    After you kill the three monsters a text would appear congratulating the player on completing the side objective.

    The player would then exit the cave and finish the dungeon as normal, but receive a 15% xp bonus for the reward upon completion.

    Sidegoals in an dungeon could be an interresting idea, but I wouldn't do quests, just some sidegoals, from which you could get some more XP. This would be good for making the Dungeons more complex, but I wouldn't do any quests in dungeons.

    I like the idea of having additional side goals for quests and dungeons cuz it adds more stuff to do.

    That is exactly what I was going for. Making the dungeons more complex.

    And these wouldn't technically quests. Sort of like miniquests that are completely optional. I'll see of I can learn how to make a mock up GUI of what it would look like.

    There wouldnt be any NPCs you would have to talk to or quest items. Simply kill something.

    Sounds like cool but getting 2 tokens at the end is a little to much imo. a small 5-15% exp boost on the other hand would be understandable depending on the difficulty of the side task.

    I plan to make more example quests soon, but I want to run through the original dungeons before then. Stay tuned

    And for the corrupted dungeons, will the quests be an alternative version of normal dungeon quests ?

    That's a good idea actually. That way corrupted dungeons will actually have variations in gameplay rather then just cosmetics and levels.
