    Let us get this thing out of the way. I love Wynn and feel that it's lacking in a few areas. Also it's very hard for people to give these kinds of suggestions without them ending up looking like a rant. More to the point this is not a rant. This is a suggestion that I would honestly like to see implemented.

    So I made this thread because I still feel that bosses do not feel like bosses. They just feel like the elite mobs from other games with a ton of HP and damage potential. The only boss fight that I can call a fight is the Orange Cybel since it has different phases that require you to do different things other than just stand around it, strafe and do your main DPS attack.

    In the Orange Cybel/Wybel there are definite phases with definite goals. In forms 1, 3, 5 it's a purely damage based fight. Forms 2, 4 must be dodged. Form 5 must not be allowed to cast a spell.

    However most bosses don't really feel like bosses, just elite enemies from other MMO's like World Of Warcraft. I propose that we make bosses feel like bosses instead of giant hit sponges that all require the same thing. Elite mobs are enjoyable to fight, but that wears thin.


    What I propose is that we make bosses have different phases that require you to do certain things. Make them have different phases that do different things such as dodging, damaging, running away, enraging, casting spells.

    For example-
    The Corrupted Guard. He has 5 phases, and in phase 1 it's a regular tank'n'spank.
    Phase 02- In this phase you must dodge his attacks and he has slowness and his attacks do a whole lot of damage.
    Phase 03- He has a corrupt ground mechanic in which he slowly corrupts the ground around him, acting as a sort of enrage mechanic.
    Phase 04- In this phase landmines/volcanoes(Or whatever type of fucking ground hazard you can think of) start popping out of the ground. After each time that you damage him, he locks onto you and starts moving towards you. So you must strategically guide him towards one of the ground hazards.
    Phase 05- This is a regular tank'n'spank(I ran out of ideas as you can tell)

    I can see that implementing these suggestions might be hard, and they needn't be as outlandish as this one. I probably see that the Corrupted Guard might be too hard to implement, especially Phase 3, but I don't see any issues with the other phases. Similarly, it would be nice if we had more bosses like the Orange Wybel and Cybel(But not so overtuned) that had actual phases and required you to do more rather than just stand there and damage him.

    At this point Wynn does have satisfactory build combinations,but there's not much that you can test your builds on other than Qira, and Legendary Island since there is little to no other bosses.

    But more to the point, there are many such permutations and combinations. But the end point remains the same, most don't feel like bosses at all. And to answer your questions yes, I've been watching too much WoW and playing too much Skyrim and Oblivion.

    Needs some improvement, but a good suggestion nonetheless.

    It seems like a big job for the CMDs and GMs, which may be a problem. What I understand from your post is that you’re thinking of something like Amadel, but the different rooms have different things you have to do. Yes, like you did say, might be hard to implement, but it’s a great idea.

    this was suggested a long time ago for the gavel update by igbar iirc
    but for whatever reason (probably difficulty in implementation) unique fights only exist for certain bosses

    CMD spells are too finicky cause the only way we have to inflict damage is InstantDamage which is incredibly glitchy and unreliable.

    You did make good boss fights. Amadel, Blade of Shade, Aerie of the Recluse, Orange Wybel(Cybel but he's overtuned so he's out). All I'm asking is for more bosses of this style

    Would it actually be hard to add a /damage command to counter this? I think it's doable and would greatly help with CMD stuff

    I've been asking for one to be made, but apparently it's a lot more difficult than it looks cause we have n't gotten one yet.

    One of the biggest things I love about minecraft MMOs is the combat systems, it's not the point and click of normal MMOs, it has dodging and aiming. It takes not just mental skill but physical skill as well. This is the case with PVP at least, and it'd be amazing if that translated to bosses too.

    The boss fights don't have to be special in that the boss has unique abilities, it could be all about what happens around the boss (the floor starts to break if you take too long in a phase, for example). Also, there could be little mini games in each boss fight before and maybe during the fight itself to add some variety. A boss could require you to play Simon Says and if you don't do what it says you take a lot of damage, for example.

    New mob making system that could be more specific with custom AI goals and targeters, as well as spell / ability combos specifiying spell, patterns, cooldowns, power level, etc. could be good.

    I’ve done a bit of Mob AI development with Minecraft NMS code and I can say that it definitely sucks. But, I feel this could be doable, and could lead to some amazing bosses and better mobs in general. That’s just my opinion.

    Maybe just make it so you guys are able to create new AI types and spell configurations and then specify them in the yml file where you guys create your mobs.

    This would also require that the new mobs could be added without removing the system allowing how the old ones are registered.
