  2. Boo! This will make the server even more laggy! Just let them be useless!

As we all know, most of the NPCs are pretty much one-time-use. You click him, he gives you a single quest, you complete it, and boom he's useless now.
Standing there for eternity, doing nothing but only occupying the place.
What a waste of space! Quest makers always have to add a new NPC for a new quest. In the future, more quests are being added. Adding more and more, and then, the entire map is full of useless NPCs saying "Ayy, thx for helping me bruh!"

    So! What is my suggestion?
Why don't we make a GUI for NPCs and add some casual chats?
    The mechanism is simple.
You click him, a small GUI opens, and there's multiple options to select. Just like the quest book! You see, in the quest book, you can click the one you want to do, right? Same way!
By the way, not every NPCs should have multiple quests, though.
And for more stories and fun, adding some non-quest-related chats could be good.
Example: You talk to Yahya, choose 'chat', and he says "Hehe... hi there! Y-you know some bluecaps? I.. i personally like them! B-b-but don't get too close!"
Short chats like these will entertain players and even some of them could give some lores!

    PROS
    1. Quest makers can make quests more freely and variously.(yes more yahya things yay)
    2. Much more quests in small areas.
    3. More personalities of NPCs, so players will feel friendly and familiar with them.
    4. Players will be more likely to revisit unpopular places.

    CONS
    1. Developers and GMs will suffer revamping it lol.
1.1. Salted will lock every one of quest makers in a tiny cage to make new dialogues, only providing them with orange juice. and the cage doesn't even have any toilet. ooh, what a nightmare.

What's your thought about this system?

Edit log: a logical problem occured, so moved the extra feature to main reason.

    This ain't it chief.

1.) Most NPC's only have one quest anyways
2.) Rewriting the code for ALL the quest NPC's to have a GUI pop up instead of a quest progression through right clicking would be cancerous for the dev team, and I don't support extra work with seemingly no reward
3.) It's already easy to just re-use the same NPC name in a different location to add continuity / make a brand new NPC for any quest

If this was easier to implement, I would support it.

I really like this suggestion. My favorite part, oddly enough, isn’t the multiple quests addition but the nod chatting you mentioned. Just being able to chat with random nods and learn something about their backstory gives so much immersion imo and allows the content team to add cool lore tidbits in any npc in the world, even ones you’ve talked to already. Super cool idea, potentially strenuous to code, but worth it in the long run.

They write the code 1 time, and then just put "use this code on that NPC" for each NPC. The only thing that would take a while is dialog writing.

However, I don't really think this is a good idea though.

Yeah, that's the point I'm concerned about. It could be a hard work with few gains. As you said in 3), there's already a way to get the NPCs have multiple quests, so it may be worthless to work on.

But it can also bring good things!
    1. Diverse chats will possibly strengthen the stories/lores of the server.
    2. Some quest types(info-gathering quests, divided quests, etc)will shine thanks to more free and flexible system.

I feel like the remaining immersion Wynn has would be killed by this. I feel like text prompts asking about whichever quest would be better, or based on priority.

I think your logic is a bit flawed seeing as after we do all of his quests he is again useless and just says "Thanks mate" but I like the idea. It's cool.

    Oops! Guess you're right..
Fortunately, I think there's another option to make it less flawed. The casual chat!
Maybe i should edit the thread :/
    Thanks for the correction!
