    (WARNING LONG THREAD BUT AN INTERESTING ONE)

    Hello,

    In this thread, il talk a little bit about a main questline and how it can boost the games experience. Il start talking about what I miss in the game and how a main questline will change this. There have probably been more suggestions of this theme (I mean I can't be the only one who is such a genius), but haven't seen it been posted yet so I thought il share my thoughts.

    MAIN QUEST - LONG (But interesting)

    For a while ago (before I came back) I quitted Wynncraft of boredom. And I thought about why I got bored with it, was it the grinding? Boring quests? Missing lore? And I concluded with none of those possibilities because I like the quests (Well maybe not all of them, some are pretty shitty like ToA were you kill 10 mobs go next lvl, kill 10 mobs next lvl, kill 10 mobs go next lvl ...) Grinding was also kind of fun because of the quest - grinding balance is pretty good, then there are dungeons that for the most are pretty balanced as well. I still think someone are broken and either needs an xp nerf or has to be longer/harder (A.K.A. CSST). Lore is also kind of good. I mean there are pretty descent lore existing around cities and some creatures like Bob, Siegfried or Amadel and her/his power source.

    But I feel there is missing like a general lore, like from your character or the present, like are there any wars going on between people, are there any conflicts, some common enemy that are been mentioned in several quests. For. example Skyrim (I will not compare the most successful RPG/MMO to Wynncraft that you barely can call a Massive Multiplayer Online, because how on earth is massive 500-1000 daily players? But we can learn from them. Although its funny that I have more hours in Wynncraft then Skyrim as Skyrim is a way bigger RPG/MMO) they have many side quests, but some main quests that are essential for the main lore and theme. And all the quests are in somehow involved in the greater war in the game (Between the elves and the human race I never remember was called, Stormcapes? Weathercloacs?) And I'm kind of missing this, like something going on in the present. I mean there are kings and leaders, but they might don't as well had to be in the game to make a difference, people who should be important. I mean I didn't even know Troms had a King before I read the quest where you meet him for the 3rd time (Could be that I'm just stupid but hey).

    After I completed all the quests in pre-gavel I felt like the only thing I really remembered was the lore about Bob and that was 2 quests. (And that mushroom addicted crazy ape we all love, Yahya.). And after I completed all quests after Gavel, the only lore about Gavel I really remembered from all the quests was that there were meteors that hit the province, and villagers are greedy and stupid bastards with gigantic noses. And that was after finishing almost every quest 3 times, and as the "Auto describer" says, I'm a well-known adventurer (You know the little sentence beneath your name where you can write something short about yourself).

    I think a main quest would fix many of these problems. You would be introduced to characters and learn deeper lore about them, (And not just general lore and fast facts so you get an overall view of what is happening, f.eks. the quests with The Realm of Light. It's just too much going on to explain all of the lore and characters in 2 (3) quests.) you would probably also get a bigger overview whats going on in the province. Possible conflicts, important people, etc. things that you can be a part of, not just things you randomly get involved with and fix the short time problem, but problems you really need to work on. Problems that will change the world or leadership/ruler.

    My idea for such a main questline was having about 8-16 of the quest, were you unlock 1 every 10 level-ish. The main quests are longer, harder and rewards are better. Another importance of an end of a main quest is that they cant "end end", they need to stop right before a cliffhanger or something, so people are motivated on grinding up to the next level where you unlock the next part of "the bigger picture". The last quest in such a main story would be unlocked at level 100 (possibly 101) were you ofc would have to fight an incredibly powerful boss. For the boss fight, I had some ideas as well. You maybe will have this very powerful pre-boss, like Qira, and then another Boss like either jumps down from the roof (In Qira it could be the spider jumping down from the roof, holy shit that was a genius idea) or kind of comes out from his dead body, anything of animation or something that tricks us believing he/she was dead.


    The last thing I wanted to add is that in these quests you could sometimes have a choice to what to do (like in the iron heart quest) that would affect you in later quests. This would not only do it more interesting but you would feel you are more part of the game. And for tryhards (I really mean professional players but tryhards work too) who has accomplished to level more then 1 character to lvl 100, each run would feel more unique.


    Other suggestions:

    - Give NPCs voices, this would give them more character and be more interesting (and I'm tired of reading everything) The voice would be higher the closer you are to them could also be a cool future to add with this.

    - Quests for corrupted dungeons (Like why they got corrupted), kind of a quest for the whole forgery thing. Because it just popped on on the map and no one knew when or how it got there (Ofc it was built, duh, but the lore, the history).



    Feel free to leave some suggestions of what you think, but please leave reasonable arguments for why it's bad or good. F.eks. I saw a comment on a YouTube video about Star Wars 7 that was utterly ridiculous. A guy didn't like the movie because a woman played the main character. He called it for "Female propaganda". So please comment suggestions as long as you don't go into that trap and leave something like "Wynnquest propaganda" stuff.

    Sorry for bad English I hope it was somehow understandable.

    I like the first idea, but giving the NPC's voices would cost money and I don't think Wynn is drowning in cash

    The Main Storyline has been in the works for over two years now. It was supposed to be released around the time of Gavel but has been postponed indefinitely. However, it has been stated that the lore for the main storyline has been written out (I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure Grian has said this). Your ideas for the quests are good, such as giving the player motivation to keep continuing on, but keep in mind that the story is being worked on. I empathize with your confusion about the lack of concrete lore (although we recently received a lot of lore in terms of the Dungeons and Discoveries update, we need connections between all these different things).

    Also I've been wanting more multiple-choice quests for a long time, as I think they add more variety to the world, so I agree with you here.

    Voice acting would be nice but it's pretty unfeasible right now, at least on a technical level. There are thousands of lines of dialogue, and the resource pack would need to contain each of those lines as a separate file. This would increase the size of the pack extremely, possibly causing a lot more lag / load time.

    I agree Corrupted Dungeons need lore but it's probably low on the to-do list.

    Basically, I agree with everything you're saying, but it might be a while before these things happen.

    Fixing the colors would be nice, since it makes the thread nearly unreadable for certain theme users


    This will most likely never happen, since the pack should be kept as small as possible. Implementing voices would end up making the pack dozens of times bigger than it already is, and even the current size is already an issue for some people with bad internet connection. Hiring professional voice actors would also cost way too much. Sure, we could ask for some volunteers, but there's no way it wouldn't lead into a sloppy result.


    Several quests already do this, and a few have effect on future quests aswell


    ^^These two statements of yours directly correlate with eachother. If you pay attention to what's being said, you'll notice that a huge portion of quests and important discoveries explain practically everything you could possibly think of as of now, excluding unreleased future content of course

    1) Fixing the colors to what color? Didn't know the issue sorry for those people.

    2) NPC voices: Well too bad, would be a nice thing but understand the problems.

    3) And there are like 2 quests were you have several choices out of 121. (I may be incorrect, correct me if I'm wrong)

    4) If that was unclear, I'm tired of reading the same quests over and over again. The reason why I read em all over again is that I want to find out more about the lore (And it was meant to be kind of ironic ;))

    Hi,
    On your first three points:
    1) Select the black colored text and change the color to "None."
    2) Yeah, it sucks, but Wynncraft has always been limited by Minecraft itself.
    3) There's three: An Iron Heart, Aldorei's Secret (which is the only one where your decision in Quest I affects Quest 2), and Underice as far as I know. Yeah, I wish there were more too.

    The issue is the choices you choose don't really quite matter except for the loot you gain

    Choose money or armor
    Choose this or that, etc.

    Disregarding the trolls, I really like this. I'd been thinking about this as a well, and like the idea. I think it should be a choose your own adventure where you pick sides. Moreover, I think there is some really cool stuff that could be added, but I think there should be more about character development itself, rather than just plot development

    that would completely turn the game upside-down, if you mean getting to choose if your level one character will be a hero or a villian

    i'd appreciate three+-part questlines where the first decides if you are evil or not, like Aldorei

    4) Quests for corrupted dubgeons? WHY? They are pretty self-explanatory? I mean, you get the basic lore from dungeon quests, they are only corrupted versions, and you get to them from a place called the forgery. Isn’t it clear that they are a ”what if” scenario that never happened?
    5) NPC voices, okay,
    5.1) They need TONS of voice files (THOUSANDS
    5.2) They are backwards compatible to quite old versions, where you can’t fit them all in
    5.3) Where would they get the voice actors?
    5.4) WHY. JUST WHY. Why is this needed? It would slow the progress of the CT, because now they have to make a voice file for EVERY dialogue and figure out a way to make it possible.
    5.5) You can just skip the text, read the Quest book
    6) DETAIL. I am impressed that a suggestion this long has almost zero detail.

    For the in game voices, keep in mind that we're probably gonna get in game translations and that would bring a ton of voice acting work with it. And I highly doubt they could get enough volunteers for that.

    Also, there's Underice, An Iron Heart II, Aldorei's Secret Part 1, Recipe for Disaster and to an extent The Fortuneteller.

    1) Not thinking of something themselves, do you mean I should write a specific storyline?
    2) Ah ok thx, but this is also kind of what I'm saying in the thread after you chose your way everyone just accepts it. There is no one who is getting mad or want some revenge or anything. A main questline would fix this, were f.eks if you choose to tell detective hart about the robots (An Iron Heart II), the dr. wouldn't probably just give up without a fight, but we could have another quest where we have to fight his army of robotics and arrest him.

    Well, you could've just not made this thread and nothing would've changed. The only "ideas" were the choice thing, which would probably be implemented in some way or another and the voice acting, which is impossible.

    4) They maybe are pretty self-explanatory that they got corrupted and their dungeon is in another world. And this is also what I'm talking about in the thread, we get an overall understanding of what happened. But its very flat. How did it get corrupted? Why? What happened to their people? Who are they? Impact on the world? And for the forgery, what is that place even? It's clear to me its this black thing flying around that teleports you to the corrupted versions of the dungeons but more than that it just popped on on the map without anything to explain its history, what is it? where did it come from? etc.
    5) I understand that NPC voices are hard to make (I actually may remove it because I've had that many comments about it).
    Actors would you very likely get from volunteers, because what wynn player doesn't want to be a part of Wynncraft?
    Rest is understandable.
    6) Zero detail? Explain.
    Main quest: Multiple choices, affect each other, many quests distributed on different levels, giving this "cliffhanger effect" to motivate players, have multiple outcomes so it will be more interesting for players who run more characters, main quests should be longer, harder and reward better, boss fight at the end should be way more interesting (Suggestion of what it could be like in the thread) then just standing still and shoot the boss.

    I totally agree with what you say about a main storyline. it would be fun to have something get carried over from quest to quest. like you have with wynnexavation, but bigger and more choices that make a difference to the next quests, like with aldorei secrets.

    about the voices for npc I do think it would be amazing (and easier), but the pack would be too big with all those files some people allready have trouble with it on this moment. so I dont think that will happen but what I do hope that the developers will redo is the music.

    and I think there should be more quest for level 90+ (but they are problably allready working on that)

    2) So then if they alredy had everything made, why suggest more on top of it? How do you know they haven’t put those things in alredy

    4) Did you know the dialogue in the C. Dungeons is different than standard dungeons? They give lore.
    6) I will admit this much: I went to this suggestion with standard expectations, so i expected everything to be detailed, and i shound’t have because this suggestion is diffrent from a lot of suggestions.
