    Hello

Today I've found something ineffective about weapons - Health bonus. Here are the basic mechanics of the current health bonus on weapons.

First, It only adds the extra health WHEN you equip the weapon, meaning that it will disappear as soon as you unequip it. This is simply does not bring out the full effectiveness of health bonus as you often have to switch to another item such as health potions, summoning horses, etc. It also wont add the health back when you equip it back. Example: Weapon gives 1000hp and you have 5000 max hp. When you hold it, it becomes 5000/6000 hp and not 6000/6000hp. And when you unequip it, it goes back to 5000/5000hp. guppy fish

A suggestion would be to make the weapon in hotbar give permanent health bonus ( if it has any ) until it is taken out of the hotbar. If there are 2 or more weapons that give health bonus, it would take the lower one. [EDIT] This is to prevent abuse of having +hp from a weapon while using another weapon dat does high damage at the same time. [EDIT2] If there is negative hp, only affects when holding it.

    [EDIT]
QUESTION 1: Guardian won't give +hp when you have another spear in hotbar. Simply take it out of the hotbar. If you want to switch it becuz of elemental resistance or whatever, do it before a fight.
QUESTION 2: What about weapons that give negative hp bonus? No difference. Currently, when you equip the weapon, it takes off your health instantly. Similarly with my suggestion, equiping or having the weapon in your hotbar still takes off your health.

This is certainly practical and fitting considering some weapons' effectiveness rely heavily on its health bonus. An example - Alazarin, without its hefty 600-1200hp bonus, its just a sword that does neutral damage and give minimal elemental defense.

    [EDIT]
    Consider this before commenting/critising:
With your critism, compare both the current system and the suggested one. Does it make big game break change ?

    Thnx for reading.

This isn't an issue if you're mage. Also, in which weapons does this really become a concern?

But yeah, that is kind of annoying, even though this is done to prevent abuse. Maybe it could work out like this: Your HP is saved as a percentage, and then you equip a weapon with +HP. Your max HP goes up while your HP percentage is the same.

Also, I heard that Alazarin isn't good.

eh, this is indeed a problem imo, but this is not a good solution
you could just put an apoc and a guardian in your hotbar, which gives you +4k hp even tho you're using apoc

Yeah i dont think you thought about this much.

Firstly you didn't talk about how this would work with items that give negative health bonus, such as cata. If this was to work with items like these it would potentially break the game. The second thing to go over is the fact that there's a nice number of easy requirement health bonus items. 30 defence and 20 agility for 3k extra hp from phoenix wing, yeah no.

Its to prevent abusing it. If you have apoc and guardian in hotbar and want the hp bonus from guardian, put apoc in ur inventory. That way, you cant abuse having hp from guardian as well as using apoc at the same time. If you are using apoc, no hp bonus.

I dont think you get my point. Im only changing what is already there and not adding what is not there. It makes no difference when using a negative health bonus item. Whether it is the current system or my suggested one, you still get the hp decrease while using the weapon. Similarly with the phoenix wing. In both systems, you still get the 3k hp while with the easy requirements. Just that the 3k hp IS suppose to be there but isnt effective

    sounds pre good actually,

heres how i think it should work
[neutral, positive] - take neutral as passive, positive when held
[positive, positive] - take lower as passive, higher when held
[positive, negative] - take positive as passive, negative when held
[neutral, negative] - take neutral as passive, negative when held
[negative, negative] - take neutral as passive, negative when held

i think negative should ONLY affect hp when held - negative hps are to balance high dmg - ur not going to do AS high dmg on a weapon wihtout that neg hp.

positive should overide when it is held - so kinda similar to what we have now, but makes guardian actually viable when another spear is in hotbar

that or u make it heal the hp missing when u switch - eg weapon x has +1000 hp, when u equip it heals you for 1000, unequipping it removes away 1000 hp

The percentage of health should remain the same when you change items with different health, so you don't have to heal a lot of health but also won't let you insta heal when you change weapons with different health bonus.

It affects a lot of fire weapons, like Guardian, Praesadium, Liquified Sun, and Ignis, and also makes -HP weapons a pains to switch off of
