On a serious note, I think this is a great idea. Leaving the community in the total dark always goes bad for anything from games to tv shows. Rumors and thirst for the slightest info on updates increase drastically, which can lead to some pretty toxic discourse.

On one hand, monthly, or bi-weekly updates would be a great way to satisfy the players. However comma! On the other hand, as we aren't actually on the team, we don't know if this would be way too stressful and counter-productive; resulting in quantity over quality.

On the other other hand, it really doesn't take a whole lot to show off for satisfaction. And doubt surely is rising. Grian said back in June the update was at least 2 months away. I know it says "at least", but it has been almost four months with no info besides what was said at Wynncon, which didn't really say much anyways. Saying "Soon" or "We're working on it" really doesn't cut it anymore update after update.

 

+1 a community shouldnt have to wait 2 years for an update with things they dont even want, let the community shape the updates

 

I don't think letting the community shape an update is a good idea, this could very easily go horribly wrong

I mean, in theory this could work, and maybe it would give the players something to theorize about/discuss. But what if a) like philly said, we give away too much? and b) the stuff we do give away causes controversy between players which will evolve into a flame war/argument. +0.5

 

That's actually nice! You're discussing and this didn't become a flamewar, awesome!

Now, my opinion:

Yes, it would be nice to have some hints about future updates to create hype, but what if what we leak creates TOO MUCH hype, but it isn't something that big when you're actually playing the update.

Unfortunately, that happens. It always does. We create huge spectations, but we are limited to what Minecraft has to offer, what the current code has to offer.

About the "what the team is doing" part, yeah I think there should be a bit more of detail about what the team is working on right now. If you look around it's really easy to discover though.

 

How about this proposal?

Instead of releasing something that involves in one place for an idea. It could be scattered. I have gathered what you have said about hinting this Pepinho and if my theory is correct then it will be awesome. Not telling what.

Anyway off-topic. Here are the ideas.

Don't keep your updates in one spot. In fact, spread them out so it isn't obvious and have it similar as the ??? Quest you did. We search for the answers. You don't tell us when you release the hints, we search for them. Even now we can go search for them. This won't create too much hype but you still have released something.

This idea is one again just an idea and can be molded into something better. But for now this is what I have as an idea. Hope you enjoyed it as it can add onto this thread... probably...

Well, what could I really talk about?

"Oh wow, there's this cool new item with a really funny name I came up with!"
"is it air spear"
"No."
"is it legendary"
"No."
"don't care add more legendaries in specifically my build"

 

As this can show one of the possibilities, it does still show that you are making things. Plus you went into detail as you could have been vague as if this was a real talk. Because now I could make a well good assumption. But then again... my builds just suck so a new weapon is godly for me :p

 

I agree with this. This will increase the connection between the CT and the general community as well as give us some idea of what's happening

 

but :( air spear ;_; its needed D:

 

It's less that you can't make such items, and more that solid spell based air spears are lacking at the minute, so it feels more needed then another say Fire spear.

Now if it comes down to people really caring, while a ton of people have the thought in their head that legendary is the only thing ever worth using (Mabye add an NPC or something that says that legendaries aren't always the best item), so yea, I could get that, but I personally, and others would love getting a sneak peak at some items, even just some uniques.

 

That would be so interesting :o i think i would get really excited if i got to see them x) i could plan builds ahead :O

 

Grian also told you guys the deadline he had in mind at Wynncon before he told the CT.
