    In quest or off-map areas have the player spawn at the entrance of said area or at a reasonable checkpoint set by a GM or builder if the player were to die.

    Isn't this something planned for the Code refactor? I could be wrong, but I know I remember a GM saying that.

    You might be thinking of the checkpoint system that I set up for Flight in Distress.

    Yes, this is an issue we are aware of, and we have been discussing ways of solving it, and some alternatives do rely on the refactor.

    Wouldn't it just be the easiest to set spawn points based on command blocks or a simple plugin? It's not that hard to do and nearly every server does it.

    test for = clock amount = 1042

    1042 x 20 = 20840 things per second



    of course using plugins I guess we can say we can halve the lag

    then if we only test 1 per second:
    we get 521 things per second

    thats still a lot

    but oh wait if its cmd blocks

    we must manually place it anyway

    so that accomplished nothing

    There are definitely ways of doing this, maybe not through command blocks, but through plugins. There really isn't an excuse why this isn't implemented.

    Would it not require replacing certain areas?

    Because some quest areas are super close to towns

    so unless were moving the quest rooms

    or totally changing all of it

    I don't think so. The town spawns would still exist, just new spawns will be made for quest/off-map areas.

    Right...
    but each quest room has its own room
    there are so many rooms

    its going to be tedious to log each area,
    and re add a location

    Maybe not every room, but definitely one or two locations for a quest. For example, in Shattered Minds, the player would spawn outside of the mushroom cave or Elfim if the player were to die in the Hallucination stage.

    I would support major quests that drop you off in annoying places

    That's pretty much it. The main point of this is so that no one ever respawns in the tutorial or halfway across the map if they die during a quest. Obviously, people should respawn in the tutorial if they haven't completed King's Recruit yet, but you get the point.

    OMG YES!
    I keep dying when I try to fight the corrupted santa claus in the Craftmas Chaos quest and I've given up on it. Not because I thought the boss was too hard, but because I had to travel ALL THE WAY BACK to the boss room in future Selchar each time I died.

    Agreed. I have no idea how they might add this, but it would be very useful. I had the same problem as Josh_Legacy on my old character lol
