World Legacy Server(s)

OSRS and WoW's legacy servers work because the communities for Runescape and World of Warcraft are extremely large compared to Wynn's 1,000+ player community. As far as I know, the general opinion of the current state of RS and WoW is much more mixed than Wynn's current state, which is generally more positive.

I didn't really mean to accuse you of shitting on the developer's work, I just have a bad, bad history of reading thousands upon thousands of shitty comments that use nostalgia as an argumentative device, and it's made me despise any discussion about it, I pretty much hate pre-Gavel Wynn now because of it, and I joined in July 2013, huh.

The "circlejerk" I mentioned is the source of my biggest worry for legacy servers, this proposal for legacy servers is pretty harmless and overall is just a simple request from an old player, but I worry that certain people will use the legacy servers as a "scapegoat" of sorts to shit on the developer's work, and generally act pretty snooty about it.

I don't want to point fingers, but there are certain... members here who, rather than leave Wynn peacefully, choose to occasionally pop in and subtly shit on the game and/or the community they used to be part of in a very "meme-y" fashion in an attempt to garner attention, and I worry that legacy servers will increase this sort of behavior. I've always had an unhealthy paranoia of these things, and that caused me to overreact, sorrrry.

 

I don't know how often these members do this then, but surely it isn't the majority of the "old community". It's just one of those things where the positive people who simply stopped playing vanished. The negative players who are still salty make us all seem bad because that's all you get to see.

 

It's a small "group" of old players who used to a part of the community during 2013-2014, they usually pop in on an average of a monthly basis, with no exact schedule, give or take, that's all I'll say. Other than a few bad apples, I still have a very positive outlook on the community, there were nice people then, and there are nice people now.

 

Yeah the economy is awful

 

This is such a good idea I would continue to play Wynn just because of this alone it would be so fun. I’ve actually thought of this but never really suggested it, I really hope they do this or something similar!!

 

I just missed out on playing pre-Gavel (It was released a month before I started playing) but I would love to see the old Wynn (even as a newer-ish player some things in Wynn today can be confusing).

 

Getting swarms back will be a lot of fun! I'm down, even if it's only for a week or two.

I kinda like this tbh but really isn't something which would be done right away, as Dern Bloomi and that Orc Island where fruma is supposed to be normally are to come first.
