Assassin

So apparently the Assassin class used to be too OP and it did insane amounts of damage, and it was the class that did the most damage. Well now everyone's saying it got nerfed, and it's horrible now.

I've heard that it went from doing 20K damage to 3K damage.

I think the Assassin class is fun to play, and it should do more than that. Maybe buff it a little bit, but it doesn't have to be at 20K damage. It should be somewhere near where the other classes are though.

 

No, simple answer is no.

It was OP, yes. However, it was too OP, and was basically just a brute force class... like Warrior. However, it didn't have a distinct playstyle. Now it does, and that play style is mainly DOT or DPS not Damage Per Hit.

It doesn't need a buff, or nerf.

 

Have you ever heard of the word "Cataclysm"? That's a really good thing about assasin. And of course, it could use a bit more movement options.
Assasin doesn't need more damage, but it could use a bit more movement and defence maybe.

 

A bit more detail would be appreciated, please don't make a suggestion thread unless you've thought through how it's actually going to work. Also, if it's something like this that the community feel strongly about, there's bound to be a good thread about it, try supporting that.

A few questions:
-How do you intend to buff Assassin's damage? (higher damage values for weapons, higher damage on spells, etc.)
-How will this be balanced with the other classes?
-What exactly makes the Assassin class so needing of a buff (be more specific with this)
-Does this apply to all levels? (eg, perhaps you think Assassin is good early game but gets worse at level 80ish)

Really, I don't think Mythic comparisons are relevant here, as hardly anyone can afford them. This should be about the class as a whole, rather than a small number of extremely rare items.

 

To be honest, Assassin is only good if you have mythics, Assassin itself doesn't need a buff, Most of it's non-mythic endgame weapons do.
I mean- Black does about 6,000 damage spins without any damage bonus items, Are you being serious?

 

No. Allow me to explain.
First of all, do you realize how good of a spell Spin attack is? It does a little bit of damage, stuns your foes, gets rid of your negative effects and steals your opponents good ones (which is the only class that can do that by the way)

Second, vanish. I know that the mana drain on vanish sucks, but if you use it wisely and get used to it, you can avoid a lot of damage. They couldn't just make vanish infinite because that would be too op.

Thirdly, Multihit. It does a little bit more of percentage damage than meteor, if you count the fatality hit on Multihit and the burning ground on meteor. Plus, you can manipulate your enemies to go wherever you want by just turning your head while using this spell, which is really useful when considering the next spell

And last, smoke bomb. This does an insane amount of damage if you use it correctly. You can vanish, spin attack, Multihit, and smoke bomb to do a lot of damage. And about assassin getting a nerf, that's because it was stupidly op. Multihit did 2000% damage, vanish took pretty much no mana at all, and you had as much defense as warrior.

 

What you don't realize is that, that 20k was BASELINE damage, at Lv 70. Now that baseline is much more balanced, and various other aspects were balanced, such as Smoke Bomb's ridiculous damage potential being cut to a third(which is still 540%). It was a nerf, but that doesn't mean the class is suddenly useless.

this class is being highly underrated already, a buff wont change anything because then people will say to nerf it... assassin is good as it is right now...
vanish helps a lot in order to protect yourself, spin attack can be spammed and deal a real amount of damage, for example, my assassin has a crappy build, yet a weathered/good ivory deals 5k, multiply that by 6 spin attacks, 30k dmg... thats quite a lot right? also it gives to the enemies your debuffs and steals the buffs then we have the multihit which deals a nice amount of damage AND you can control where to send the enemies with it. then smoke bomb... this spell is quite strong and it can save your life in a bunch of situations due to the slowness it gives.
assassin is a more strategical class rather than a one punch class, its an strategical one, not a 1 shot everything one

So you're just jointing the buff assassin bandwagon before you even try it?

 

"Buff Assassin," says the guy who's never played assassin.

Assassin is actually really powerful early-game, so since your only experience with it is an early game experience I don't see why you're calling for a buff.

 

The answer is no. Pregavel assassin was literally broken, it did way too much damage and could oneshot pretty much any non-boss, INCLUDING players. I could take out level 75s at level 58 it was that OP

 

All of sudden in seeing a "buff assassin" post everywhere on general suggestion.

Assassin classes:
Pros = High attack speed, speedy(ish), DPS (Damage per second), DOT (Damage over time), Good spells and effects (Invisibility, blindness, slowness, able to get rid of negative effects and steal good effects), Stealthy (unlike the other classes)

Cons = Heavily mana hungry, vulnuable once hit with a spell that causes slowness, vulnerable when not invis or hidden, AoE spells can easily counter an assassin, arrow shield is bullshit for assassin, short ranged, Takes gore skill m8

Good for (With a group) = DPS, The "Vampire" effect (Take away any buffs from an enemy and apply those stolen buffs to you), Smoke Bomb, DoT, Great survivability (Incase someone dies, an assassin can continue to stay invis till you come back, therefore you don't have to restart the battle), Multi hit can corner enemies, Perfect for weeaboos

 

My archer's bomb arrow does 5k damage.

I started my assassin about a week ago and i'm at level 53 so I feel like I have at least a decent understanding of the class.

I don't believe that the assassin needs a buff in damage and I believe that in combat an assassin can be just as good if not better than other classes due to their already high damage output and AOE attacks.

I only believe that the assassin needs to be more mobile at a lower level because when I was grinding with my party at level 20 they would teleport and charge into battles and I would be lucky to get a few hits in before they had slaughtered all of the mobs that were involved. The assassin doesn't get any sort of "movement spell" until level 46 when they get speed and jump boost added to their invisibility spell and by this point they probably would have already gotten a horse. I personally went onto my higher level archer and purchased a horse for my assassin before I got to level 34 just so that I could keep up with my friends, but new players that saw the assassin class and thought that it would be fun to try might not have this option and will also inevitably be lagging behind their friends until they reach level 34+ which could ruin the experience for them. This would be breaking the most important rule of all on Wynncraft: "Have fun"

TL;DR: It really just needs an early game movement spell.

 

Im not on the 'Buff assassin bandwagon' but one thing I have been thinking of, and am willing to change my opinion on with persuasion is like...
Each class has a mobility spell - the triple R (L for archer). Teleport, Escape, whatever Warriors was called, and vanish. But, to me, Vanish is not a mobility spell - invisibility != mobility
Yes, you get speed and jump boost, but this is basically what archer has, except archer has a much larger jump and much longer speed. The invisibility is useful, but it isn't a mobility spell which all the other classes have, and mobility is important.
I think assassin's 'mobility' spell is too close to archers tho its weaker but it has invisibility to 'make up for it', but invisibility is not mobility.
