Quest Cluck Cluck Multiple Choice

In the quest 'Cluck Cluck' Nohno asks you to take care of his chicken, Cluckles, so really you should be able to do just that! Nohno even gets annoyed at you for killing Cluckles. Wouldn't it be right to just adopt the chicken likes he asks you to?

You could potentially have a seed merchant or enemy which drops seeds that you need to tame Cluckles, so even have it more dangerous than just combatting him as you have to stay alive while taming him. The seed merchant or monsters could potentially be in a very high level area, like Llevigar or Dark Forest, posing great risk or cost for characters the level of the quest.

Of course as a result of completing the quest this way Nohno would like you and could give a reward, or take it as 'the kindness of your heart' and still just get rewarded XP. Also if you complete the quest this way Cluckles would also give you "Cluckles' Favourite Feather".

This also allows the opportunity to keep him as a pet, which would make for a unique pet!

 

the thing is that all of bob's companions got his power so they cant show you how powerful cluckles is unless you fight him

 

I haven't completed the Bob quest line, but I would imagine it would make for a very interesting alternate ending for the story as he has 3 pet animals to my knowledge, so if you could tame all of them, it could potentially result in a different outcome, which would be quite interesting I imagine.

 

We can't really do alternate endings tho (we need different finish NPC's)

 

A way you could still have the fight but also get the option to spare Cluckles would be to have Cluckles be a two stage boss, first stage is the hostile Cluckles which would be the same as the normal boss fight but after you beat him it spawns in another Cluckles like how some of the dungeon key holders work and this version could be Scared Cluckles which would be neutral with significantly lower health which then would give you the option of either slaying Cluckles to receive the feather or sparing Cluckles by feeding them seeds to tame them where Cluckles will then give you a feather in thanks and you won't have the blood of Bob's beloved pet on your hands.

In order for an alternate ending you need another end NPC which won't make sense in the Bob's rencarnation quest

 

Could have Nohno's wife...

An actual idea is if you tame Cluckles Nohno could come into the basement and reward you and you finish that way, that or you temporarily get teleported to an identical island and you complete it before then returning to the real world.

Also what about facewing's suggestion?

 

I've always hated killing Cluckles when I do the quest. I think a pacifist option would be dank

Yes, I quite like the idea of pacifist options for the quests, that would be good! Also if there was a way to make XP without killing stuff would be awsome, then you could play as a complete pacifist which would be interesting for sure! Though I guess the undead don't count as they're dead...

I definitely think there should be an alternate ending to this quest, but I think that it does need some thinking because I'm not sure I love the current ideas presented although I do like the idea of killing Cluckles one time and then having the option to tame or kill in the second fight as suggested by @facewing I've personally never been too terribly bothered by this quest. Even though I love animals and live on a hobby farm, this is a game and you're not really killing a chicken, some pixels are just disappearing from your screen. Overall good concept, needs some work though.
