Pets & Horses Mounted Fighting

First and foremost: Where is the logic in that you can't come up and poke something while riding a horse? I know you can punch things while riding a horse, but why can't you shoot a bow, or stab a creature's eye out, while riding a horse? I would like to be able to deal damage while mounted because of how horses allow players to have greater speed, while still dishing out a good amount of damage. I understand not being able to cast spells (Arrow rain or the such, not a mage's basic attack) while you are on your horse (I mean, escaping while on a horse?!? How would that work out?), but I would love to be able to perform a basic attack while mounted, allowing me to ride into battle on a mount, shooting everything in my path. Please tell me if you will add this, or the issues that prevent it from being added. Thank you!

 

The major issue is that most things in the game can't hit you on a horse, which would cause problems involving free hits

And another issue with this is that you take no knockback on a mount. The combination of this and increased speed (compared to most builds) makes combat too easy to survive. Combat is meant to be at least a bit of a challenge, and this will take away what challenge there is left from especially end-game tank and glass cannon builds.

In short, I like the way it works now.

 

This will make you invincible.
While on horse you can dodge anything and round up mobs.

 

Yeah, if u didn't need to get off your horse to fight, they might as well just increase walk speed to +10000000%

basically poison builds that involve u going on ur horse and punching things and hoping poison kills them

 

How are melee classes able to attack if we're targeting a mob or a player 2+ blocks above the ground at mach 10, besides making us vulnerable as hell by making us stand still?

How are melee classes or melee mobs able to catch up to players using horses?
