Simple idea, but I'm going to make it shine. You'll see below...

Add fishing to Wynncraft! Yup, that's right, add fishing, just like in Vanilla. Get a rod, maybe a boat, and cast out, wait a bit and see what you can catch!

Now, you may be thinking, "Wow, this Eldrex guy is an idiot, why would we ever want fishing in Wynncraft?". Well, let me tell you. There's a few good reasons this should be implemented, other than the fact that it's a simple and fun time waster. I'll put these down at the bottom of this thread, after I've given you guys all of my ideas for this, so that you can understand it completely.

So, the mechanics would be just about the same as in Vanilla Minecraft. You hold your rod, right click to cast into the water, and wait until your bobber goes up and down and when it does, right click again to reel in. All of these factors would be changed by some things, but you'll see that in a bit.

Now there's a few things you need to fish. Obviously you'll need a rod, and you'll also need some bait. There will be different fish that you can catch, maybe in addition to the ones we currently have ingame (Clownfish, Pufferfish, Salmon and normal Fish). Each type of fish is more likely to be caught using a certain bait, rod and area. I'll have some data about these fish we have ingame at the moment, just as an example.

Anyways, you can find bait throughout the world in different parts of the map as mobs on the ground (like mushrooms in Nivla forest), and by "killing" them, you get their drop as fishing bait. Pretty simple, huh? There's a few different types of bait. Again, each will be used for a different type of fish, or several, and the bait the fish is likely to take is going to be displayed in the data down below. The types of bait would be as followed.

    Worms
Location: Everywhere in the world (except molten heights and other very hot / cold areas )
What do they look like: They are a mob on the ground, represented by string
How to get the bait drop: Kill the worm
Rarity: Common, don't normally spawn in clusters
    Damage: None

    Crawlers
Location: In wooded areas, such as Nivla woods, and in large amounts in places such as Iboju/Dernel Jungle, and the Dark Forest.
What do they look like: They're a mob on the ground, look like a wooden button (block, not item)
How to get the bait drop: Kill the crawler
Rarity: Common, spawn in large amounts especially in highly wooded areas, also in some other areas but lower amounts.
    Damage: 5-10

    Snappers
Location: On the shores of the oceans, ponds, and lakes of the provinces.
What do they look like: Another mob, it swims and its model is iron horse armor.
How to get the drop: This is kinda obvious now, I hope... Kill i-... Haha, tricked you! You need to be holding a Fishing Net and kill it with that to get the item. You can buy fishing nets from Fishermen Merchants on the coasts throughout the province and in some cities.
Rarity: Common (about 1/2 as common as the other two)
    Damage: 15-25

These baits are just examples. There would probably be a good deal more types of baits, so yeah... Anyways, on to the rods!

    Rods
The power of a rod depends on its level. You can get fishing rods with different stats (identifications), and this will affect the things I talked about earlier, being how long it takes to catch a fish, what you can catch, what fish you are ABLE to catch, etc.

There will be Fishing Rod Salesmen (probably a better name though) at most of the coastal cities, like Nemract, Jofash, Llevigar's Docks, Selchar, Corkus, etc. Depending on the location of the merchants you will be able to buy higher level rods, based on the level of the area. The higher the level of the rod, the better identifications it can have. There's several IDs a rod can have. These are rod weight, durability, speed, distance and luck. Here's what they all do.

Weight: This determines the maximum weight your rod can reel in. If your rod has a low weight and you hook a fish that is heavier than its maximum, you will either lose the fish, your string will snap, or your rod could even break. This will be covered in depth later. The chance that you will catch a fish whos weight is larger than your rod is low.

Durability: Determines how many times your rod can withstand a fish that's too heavy without breaking. After hooking a fish that'd weight is greater than your rods, it will get break, and you'll have to repair it to fix it (more later).

Speed: This determines the time you take to reel it in. This is a blocks/second thing... If your speed was 3, for example, you would reel your rod in 3 blocks per second. When you right click there will be a delay and your action bar or chat will say you're reeling in your rod, or it will be a thing that is displayed with sound, and after waiting the time/blocks ratio you'll get your fish, other item, or another event (later).

Distance: This determines the distance that your rod can cast out. If your distance is 20, you can cast your rod a maximum of 20 blocks in front of you. The trajectory of your cast affects the distance.

Luck: This identification determines the chance of getting more rare

So, as you should know by now you can buy fishing rods from merchants in cities. As well as this you can repair them at different "Rod Master" in similar locations for emeralds, OR parts. That's right. While fishing you can get parts of fishing rods. This could be a reel, a frame, the line, hook, etc. If your rod breaks, you will receive a version of it that is unusable, but still there. You can take it to a Rod Master and pay emeralds to have it repaired. When you right click them it will open a GUI like this.

To select the rod you want to fix, simply click on it and it will be moved into the GUI. It will then show all parts you have on the rod. You are able to swap parts in and out by clicking on them in the GUI. In order to "fix" the rod, you must remove all the broken parts and put in new ones. If you do not have any parts to replace it with, you can leave the slots empty and pay extra emeralds to have the Rod Master put a random part in there. When you fix it, the identifications will be slightly altered based on the new piece that is in the old ones place. Alternatively, you can talk to the Rod Master and create a new rod from scratch. By clicking on a piece in your inventory you can move it into the GUI and start building your rod. It will still cost emeralds to construct, and it will cost extra, again, if you leave one blank for the Rod Master to refill.

You will get different parts from fishing, occasionally killing sea faring bait (Snappers, etc.) and a select few merchants may sell some lower, or higher quality gear. Each different part adds a different identification, as follows. Higher level frame = higher durability & weight, Higher level string = higher distance & weight, higher level reel = higher speed, higher level hook = higher luck. By combining better parts you can create fishing rods that will work really well for you. The level of your rod depends on what parts are in it. Each part will have a "Level" amount. The level of your rod is the average of the level of all parts in the rod.

This is the last part. I'm surprised you've read this far! Good job.

    What you can catch

There will be several things you can catch... They will be separated into three categories. Trash items, fish, and treasure items (like in vanilla, I suppose).

Trash items includes things like leather, iron scraps, sponges, etc.

Fishes include several types of fish, for now I'll just stick with the vanilla Pufferfish, Clownfish, Salmon, and Regular Fish. The fish you catch can have a range of weights. Pufferfish's weight may range from 15-30, while a Salmon may be 5-10. Your ability to catch this depends on your rod weight, which is determined by the frame. You will be able to sell fish to "Fish Merchants" in the same locations and Rod Masters and whatnot. Different fish will also be able to be caught in certain areas. For example, Pufferfish might ONLY be able to be caught at Selchar, or maybe Salmon can only be caught in rivers. There's loads of possibilities!

Treasure Items: Not really sure what this could be. Maybe it could be something like powders, emeralds, or whatever. Feel free to suggest!

Did I say the thread was over yet? I may have been mistaken... One more thing!

    Events
These are the things that can happen upon reeling your rod in.

Event 1. String snaps. This is based on your weight. If the fish you are reeling in has a higher weight than that of your fishing rod, the string could snap.
Event 2. Alternatively, your rod frame could snap. It's less likely than the string, but the same result. You'll have to repair it at the Rod Master.
Event 3. Success! You catch a fish, junk item, or treasure item..

Yeah, this is finally it. I realize this thread is pretty long and maybe overcomplicated with too much detail, but whatever. GMs, do what you will with it! One last thing for those who care.

Why is this a good idea, besides being a fun time waster?

    1. It's a money sink. With players spending money on repairing rods, creating new ones, and whatnot they will be spending a good deal of money. The higher the level the parts are, the more it costs to repair and construct your rod.
    2. It may be fun for endgamers who are getting bored. I know that I get bored sometimes once I've done all quests and levels and whatnot. This could be a source of fun for those who've gotten bored and just want to do something.
    3. Brings material for players who just want to relax. Not everyone on Wynn is a tryhard... or are they? Regardless, this would be an escape from the relatively courageous and exciting world of Wynn and allow them to just take some time to fish, make a rod or two, and enjoy the salty spray from the water.

Okay, I'm FINALLY done... If I left anything out of this thread, which I don't think is likely based on the excessive amount of detail I put into this, please tell me. Sorry, for the long thread, I hope you liked the idea... Bye!

I feel that this could be a good idea. But it needs a bit of fine tuning.

First of all, the space issue. The main reason why housing suggestions never fly is because of the lack of space to do so. So, we're going to need a concrete description of where the rod merchants are. Do they have their own stores? Are they only in certain areas? More details would help this suggestion.

Second, the treasure items would need a bit of a spice added to them. Don't just give the normal stuff, like emeralds and powder. Maybe make it so that you can get items that you find in Seavale Reef, or maybe sometimes find weaponry or armour beneath the waves.

Finally, better definition on the events. What happens when the string snaps?

That's really all I can think of. Great suggestion!

Well, you never know. They were already busy with other thing back when those suggestions were made, after all. It's just a personal thing; if I've covered a big thread/suggestion/idea of the same type or quality, I prefer to not post again. At least, not when it's a massive wall of text.

The idea seems good to me, but I think maybe some treasure items could be unidentified items, or maybe set items you can only get from fishing. Overall the suggestion seems to have a lot of thought put into it

Cool idea. I think it needs some more examples of baits, catches, rods etcetera. Also a bit more information on where you can fish e.g you can fish in lava and get lava fish or you can't fish in farms or really small ponds. What can you do with the fish other than selling, cook it to get like improved health, defense, speed and regen if you eat it?

In 1.9 you would also be able to make different poles, maybe this can be done and act like gear skins, it won't interrupt 1.8 players if it's retextured fishing rods.

This idea holds a lot of potencial and can become very, very good if improved the right way.
