THE SYSTEM

Hire-able Mercenaries, or Mercenary Merchant, is a system that allows players to hire followers for a certain price. The system would allow the player to be accompanied by a certain class NPC, that acts like a pet. It would help the player fight, heal the player and other features. It would be able to use spells depending on what class and level Mercenary. They would also be hire-able for a certain period of time.

Q&A
Q: Where would these merchants be placed?
A: These merchants could be placed in a wide range of cities, and it's not directly up to me to choose the location, but I would place them in major cities.
Q: What level would the Mercenaries be?
A: It would depend on what town it is in. If you hire a Mercenary in a level 30 town, the Mercenary would be Level 30, only use the first 3 spells of the class, and has a health bar.
Q: Use spells of classes? What does this mean?
A: In the Merchant's offers, you can choose from 4 of the current town's Mercenaries, which are those of the 4 classes in Wynncraft (Although VIP and above classes may be available for them too). They would have weapons of their level.
Q: What other features would Mercenaries have?
A: Upon Right Clicking your hired Mercenary, a menu would appear. This menu would contain features such as: Dismiss (The Mercenary would leave your side, and return to the merchant), Renew Time (Pay for them to stay by your side for more time.), Hold This (Store up to 9 items on the NPC) and Wait Here (They remain in place until you get out of a 80 block range).
Q: I had items on my Mercenary, but I ran out of time!
A: Quest Items will not be allowed to be given to Mercenaries, but if you wish to retrieve lost items, a menu on the Merchant, the Retrieval Menu, will allow you to retrieve all your items from your last Mercenary.
Q: Can't I hire Mercenaries and store as many items as possible?
A: If you still have items in a previous Mercenary, a message will appear,
Please retrieve all your items from your previous Mercenary before hiring another!
Q: Would I gain XP from the Mercenaries?
A: Only if you deal a certain amount of damage. This would be to prevent AFK farming.
Q: Give me a full example of a Mercenary.
A: Level 30 Archer Mercenary; Around 120 health, with +50 health armor (each piece). Level 30 Bow;20-35 damage per shot. Infinite mana, but the Mercenary has a cooldown.
Q: Why do they have infinite mana, but a cooldown?
A: This is to make sure that they always have mana, and don't spam their spells like mad.
Q: What would the Mercenaries attack?
A: Anything that attacks you (but you have to attack the enemy too to gain XP), and anything you attack.
Q: What happens when my Mercenary dies?
A: You can either, A) Continue, but not have a Mercenary by your side, or B) Go back to the Merchant and rehire the Mercenary.
Q: How do I heal my Mercenary?
A: Shift Right clicking on them with a Potion, or using the Mage's heal spell.

EXAMPLE CLASSES
For most examples, I will use Level 30.
Level 30 Mage: Around 120 health, each piece of armor gives +20 health each piece, a Level 30 wand, dealing 20-35 damage per hit.
Level 30 Archer: Around 120 health, each piece of armor gives +20 health, Level 30 Bow, dealing 25-40 damage per shot.
Level 30 Warrior: Around 150 health, each piece of armor gives +30 health, Level 30 Spear, dealing 40-50 damage per hit.
Level 30 Assassin: Around 140 health, each piece of armor gives +25 health, Level 30 Shears, dealing 35-45 damage per hit.

Depends on the level. It would be relevant health and damage to the level of the Mercenary.

It is a little overcomplecated, but I like the idea, there is some merchants for purchase in almuj allreaddy. Though it is just simply Blue-NPC's that follow you. But they dont follow you all the way to boss battles and that kind of stuff.

*depends on the level*

So do you require a forumla or something? Does a lvl 10 merc do 10 damage? Please state some possible stats and locations.

It would be standard weapons for the level. Eg; a level 30 item does 40-50 damage, then the Mercenary would do 40-50 damage. Health would also follow a similar method, perhaps making the health 3 to 4 times higher than the level. But they would also have similar armors too.

What is the point of infinite mana? And, you should add this to your original post, so people may have an example. Maybe include some other classes at different levels?

Do these mercenaries give XP to you from mobs they kill? This is the most important detail to include in this kind of suggestion

You would only gain XP if you do a certain amount of damage, just to stop people AFK Farming.

You should include that in your thread. Apart from that, all this suggestion lacks is details. Every feature you mention needs to be fully fleshed out. Do that, and it could be a pretty decent thread.

I like it, but there are some things I'd like changed. Possibly make life time mercenaries that cost, let's say a stack of liquid emerald each. Available in llevingar, Troms, Frumas capital, and corkus' capital, and will level with you to a max of 95 Depending on the the location changes the appearance of the mercenary. I.e. corkus would have robotic warriors and other classes, while llevingar would have villager mercenaries. You can buy one of each class from each location, resulting in 16 mercenaries. These mercenaries will only carry 5 items, but you can equip them with armour and a weapon. You can give them potions, which they will use if their health goes below 20%. If they die then you can back to the merchant you bought it from and reclaim them. At a liquid emerald price.

Lifetime mercs aren't that logical, you can't hire someone for life that's called a slave.
However different merc types sound cool.
