    Hello my name is PixelVox,

    Today I present an idea that I think is necessary and could have a positive impact on the community and members who dedicate time to share their skills!

    This idea is to give recognition and support towards those who give it back.

    The Your Work section use to thrive and share positivity around, amazing art was popping up everywhere. But now I see it as a graveyard, after my absence after a whole year, I easily see the difference.

    Both the audience and creator activity has decreased, this is due to these several possible reasons;
    1. Lack of content/digital media being pushed into the section
    2. No reward
    3. No extensive reasoning to visit the forum section
    4. Lack of motivation
    5. Higher attention to other sections
    So, covering these reasons the real question is, how do we draw attention to the Your Work Section? I have gathered these proposals to increase activity;

    IDEAS:
    • Traffic
    Artists deserve recognition from the community, so this idea is aimed at encouraging the community to support and recognising the Your Work Section more.
    • Rewards
    To increase the activity of digital media creators and artists sharing work, they need a more motivating reason. I believe that a reward system should be set in place to encourage more active work on the Your Work Section.
    1. Recognition from staff (Liking, commenting, supporting more often)
    2. Trophies (Rewarding forum trophies based on certain factors; Quantity of posts, activity, etc..)
    ____________________________________________________________________________

    [IMG]
    I believe that starting up community events maybe weekly/monthly could increase community activity, by encouraging members to participate for a particular prize or reward.

    Rewards could be anything! in-game items, shop items, and or particular forum rewards (Not sure, though). This would also be a great way to draw attention to the Your Work Section while the Community Events are on.

    (Idea presented by @what )

    Imagine how encouraged players would be if they knew an Art Showcase was coming up and they had a chance to get their work shown to the whole community. Art Showcase would be a great addition to the forums and give members a motive to get out there and post on the Your Work Section!

    This would also draw attention to particular Digital Media creators by shedding light and recognition on themselves and their work.

    The Your Work Section has almost 4,000 pieces of art!! How crazy is that, but where is all that going? I believe this art made for Wynncraft (Or just artist showing off their work) should have some sort of use.
    • An Extra Tag - An optional #2 Title Tag should be allowed called either; "Royalty Free" or "RF".
    This would allow community members or staff members to use the artists work under the proper credit. This would be a great push to colourful pictures everywhere! But in all seriousness, this could also give Artists and content creators recognition, and possibility even other Content Creators some special new art or tools to use in their work (Eg. Youtube Video).
    • Where is it going?
    Nowhere.. sad truth. But the real question is Where could we put it? All this art that is made for Wynncraft could be used on the website, and or other places like threads, posts, etc...
    • If Suggestion Succeeds
    A proper credit system needs to be put in place, or download restrictions to certain work. Or an easier way is allowing Content Creators and Artists proper tools to watermark their work, maybe a tool in the Rich Text Editor to allow a quick "Put text here" over an image, because let's be real work will most likely be stolen.

    ____________________________________________________________________________

    This concludes my suggestion of redefining Digital Media creators and Artists on the forums. I believe this suggestion would be a great addition to not only give the recognition deserved towards artists, but also send more traffic and encouragement for more members to start their own work and share it with the community!

    Thank you, and have a lovely day! xx

    Your absence shows. There's already an Artist tag. The Wynncraft team has recruited artists for their work and have given them credit and immense recognition. What's more, there was recently a content contest, in which there were multiple categories dedicated to showing off the great art that people make for Wynn, and there were real rewards for the winners.

    There's more, though. The basis of this thread is flawed, in the way that people that make art in the Your Work section do it on their own behalf. Wynncraft has no responsibility to recognize or reward those artists. The artists that do real artwork for the server are recognized and (I assume) rewarded for their work. Hell, one of your points was getting likes as a reward; that's already a thing, for Your Work posts and official art.

    A problem with using lore as official lore is that there's already a main storyline in the works. Using lore made by several different people would just end in a mishmash mess of lore in which there's hardly anything that's interconnected or consistent between each other.

    Another issue is the Art Showcase. While it could be a nice addition, it would also end up creating conflict, like all "Top 10" lists. If this were to be a thing, it would be best just to highlight some of the best artwork in no particular order.

    Point is, if the Your Work section is less lively than before, it's not the server's fault or responsibility to fix that. If there are less people making art for the server, that's not really a problem. The server doesn't need to reward every art piece made for it, because the artists that create art in the Your Work section choose to do it.

    This suggestion seems to be based off the fact that there's less artists and that that's a bad thing. My question for you is simple. "Why?"

    not really their job
    that would be nice (I'm going to run out of trophies soon.
    this wont make sense but it will be nice to see little easter eggs that reference lore and art threads. (might want to put a "easter egg" sign on them).
    I would like that as atm the closest thing we have to that is the official artist tag.
    @Pretzule is doing community events.
    we have a content contest every now in forever.
    pretty sure it says somewhere that anything we upload on here can be used by wynncraft but im not sure

    also as an artist I feel like the section is dying, I posted more than a 100 creations there and they barely get attention.

    I made this post knowing there were flaws, I respect your feedback and will make sure to do some editing!

    Thought I do respect your feedback you seem to just be clawing at my points in a negative point of view, I was simply suggesting ideas to encourage artists to post in the Your Work Section and for the community to be more active there because both these points lack immensely. I know from first-hand experience, I just posted 3 pieces of art and got disappointing viewings, heck one was even an animation. Also, the 'Artist' tag is official, I meant a tag could be added to show an individual's dedication towards creating art for the server. Also nowhere did I blame the server for this.

    I do know there are events already, but how often do they happen? The lack of artists in the community is due to recognition (me being one). I stopped making art because I simply wasn't being noticed, My animation got 200 views, think about it, how rewarding is it to get 200 views on a piece of work that took 10 weeks... get that to sink in.

    @Yuno F Gasai

    I respect your feedback. I know that's not really the staff's job but really let's be honest, do they even look at the Your Work Section? I also stated this suggestion because back in 2014 I remember Salted liking my render and commenting and I got so excited and motivated to make more. When does that ever happen now?

    I understand that, if you look at my info tab you can see I dated every like I got from mods. I guess in my case the hype died down a bit but I remember how excited I got when a mod liked or commented on my thread. I agree it can be enough to revive the section.

    Sorry if it feels like I'm just trying to shut you down; what I do around here mostly surrounds picking apart game suggestions and showing why they're not as good as the op thinks they are.

    Having a more active community would be nice, but I don't think adding rewards is the way to go. As I explained previously, using it wouldn't work great either. Having another tag for people that simply make a lot of art could work, though it seems a bit redundant since we have a real Artist tag.

    However, one thing you suggested did stand out as having potential; the Art Showcase. I still don't think it should be presented as a 1 through 10 spot list, but having the ten best pieces of art showcased every few weeks could work. It would be like essentially having a permanent Content Contest, but with no in-game rewards and less pressure.

    Another thing that could possibly work is more community events, but Wynn can't just give out ranks and LE all the time, or they'll get devalued. In the case of emeralds, more so than they already are. Having sequels to the Content Contest would work fine, so long as they're not very often.

    TL;DR for both posts: Wynn shouldn't use the art or lore, and shouldn't have rewards for posting in the Your Work section, past the likes that you already get. However, an Art Showcase has potential and more Community Events could work if done properly.

    Thank you for being one of approximately three people to ever actually change their thread thanks to feedback.

    Now, to just finish up on a few last things.
    This is actually rather good, I don't know how I missed it the first time around. Having special trophies for making art is probably the only good way to reward all artists equally.

    Something along the lines of "Post 5 pieces of <insert artwork type>" or "Have your artwork featured x times" could work nicely, and would be easily fitted with the art showcase, to increase the reward from being showcased.
    This is another feature I missed. It could be interesting to encourage the design of Wynn-based art that could be used for shops, suggestions or for reaction-type images/gifs that are used by people like Jamie, Selvut, and aj.
    Even having simple, small Wynn-based designs that could be used in other art could be cool. For example, having "stock" pictures of the different classes, or armour, or weapons.
    While I don't think it's possible to add watermarks or text-over-image on Xenforo/the forums, suggesting artists to add such watermarks themselves would be necessary. Seeing as how most watermarks can be easily removed, it would be best to suggest full-cover watermarks like the ones on premium stock photos.

    All in all, it's now a pretty good suggestion. There's no reason to not encourage more activity, and the ways in which you're suggesting we do it are good too. 8/10.
