World Mailbox

Hey this is just a simple suggestion here I think it would probably be easy to implement, how this would work is that in your compass you would have another button there that opens up a mailbox where people send you items or maybe they can send trade offers. This would be great for players in different time zones.

Hey I just had the thought of how to make this idea better, instead of just opening your inventory and grabbing items that were sent to you there could be a post office in some cities that you need to go to send and pick up packages, another idea is that they could add stamps that you need to buy to send something, a stamp could be like 30 emeralds maybe

The post office could be a building in Detlas where you have to complete a quest at maybe around level 40 to use it. The dialogue of the Mailman before completing the quest could be.

If the quest has been completed:
[1/1] You have x new packages! You can also send a package by leaving it in the back room over there
In the back room there could be an invisible NPC that opens up a GUI where you can put the items you need sent then it opens up a sign where you type the exact player IGN then another sign where you have to type yes to confirm. In this chest GUI there will be slots for up to 10 items and one slot for a box (buy them with gems at the post office to send stuff). You could also send a request to trade an item where they send you a request back with the items, then both players must accept the trade whenever they are on. The point of this would be that you can already know what to trade because you talk about the trade on the forums first then actually send a request.

One other thing: the reward for the quest would be the ability to send/receive mail, 5 boxes, 5 stamps, and 20 EB (Or however many depending on the level of the quest)

I won't design the quest right now but the basic premise would either be that they lost a bunch of mail and you have to go find it and bring it to the owners OR that a group of monsters(or thieves) stole the mail and you have to break into their base and bring it back to the post office.

The idea has been suggested before properly, with far better detailing and limitations. I suggest you support it if you want to see a Mail system in-game.

 

Why would I send items instead of messages? This is a mailbox right?

 

I mean something more like a PO box is what I mean, somewhere that you can send items and then the person can go check at the post office and pick the items up, I'm adding that to the post now

Thanks, I've re-thought it now where it's purpose would be more like a PO Box where you send items rather than mail because yeah the forums are a reliable mail source.

 

Okay, I like the general concept, but you need to go into a bit more detail. What kind of dialogue does the postman have? Is there a certain company name? There are a few questions like these, but maybe spruce up the original post a bit, add some colour (make sure you can read it in both themes) and it'll look great to other people.

 

What would stop me from spamming junk to people?

3 days seems a bit OP. Why not just 1 day?

Add a delete all items in mail button at the bottom right
Check who sent you the mail and add a block option

Instead of a po box, how about lil owls holding balloons? (Moogles)

 

Not a bad idea they could have an owl house as a mail room where you click an owl to get your mail, then the quest could be doing something for the owls to gain bank access.

 

No harry potter stuff needed
I haven't heard of a single owl in wynncraft
Keep it simple for a lvl 42 quest
