The server is still in 1.8, updating the server and having everything still work isn't as easy as just clicking a button.

Grian is in love with the 1.12 update and probably wishes to have it on wynncraft. But as he knows; updating the server may cause unsolvable issues with command blocks - coming into the server's core getting corrupted and the server will pass out, they will have to solve every single command block.

Because it's not that simple. Wynn would have to jump 3-4 versions of MC, creating innumerable glitches. Combine that with an update that would typically induce bugs itself, and you have a major shitstorm on your hands.

Yes, this will (almost? Need to check the amount of blocks) solve one of the biggest issues with new classes, no blocks for textures. Also 1.9 1.10 and1.11 contains many, many usefull features. But this lies far from now in time.

 

We can't update to 1.9+ because in 1.9 command blocks got a major change, and a large portion of Wynncraft is run by command blocks.
They would need to switch all the command blocks to 1.9+, as well as all the internal plugin/server coding.
They're probably working on it, but that's going to take a lot of time.
They have to remake almost everything for that.
