I've seen some other quest suggestions that have just been kinda "Eh," but this is actually really good. I like how the relationship between The Player and Valir is a mix of a rivalry and a friendship, saving eachother when you're in danger and at the same time trying to one up on eachother.

Now this suggestion isn't exactly a happy ending suggestion, but the idea to stir emotions within the player is a good one. Please note, this is only my idea's on how I would enjoy it more, I don't expect you to change your quest idea only on what I say.

First off, build more on the relationship between The Player and Valir, in terms of rivalry and friendship. Give you and him more of a bond, so each time you run into eachother it feels more like a "Hello old friend!" relationship rather than a "Oh hey, it's you again." relationship (if you get what I mean).

Now I said this wouldn't exactly be a happy ending suggestion, but I really like the idea of stirring emotions within The Player. So secondly, in the fourth quest, change it so you see Valir get turned into the corrupted monster, and in the last quest, change it so that you can't save Valir from the corruption and you can only put him out of his misery (WHAT?!). This sounds like it would be a mean or stupid thing to do in terms of quest making, but by doing that it could/would give The Player a personal reason to get rid of the corruption. You as The Player haven't experienced first hand what the corruption does to people, and having someone you actually know and have bonded with die because of the corruption would give you a reason to fight against the corruption.

Another thing, I'm pretty sure one of the Admins (Grian I think) said that they don't really add suggestions that conflict with the lore that they already have planned out, but I really do hope that they add this quest line. Even if they just tweaked it a bit to not conflict with what they already have planned out, this quest line would easily be my favorite.

    +1 HELL YES

    Thanks for the support!
I understand what you mean, but I have a hard time making the meet with Valir anything more than a coincidence. I kind of have to keep the player meeting indirectly with Valir (AKA the quest can't just be about Valir) because if Valir was your starting NPC, then it would take away from the effect of Valir's growth, since you can always talk to the same Valir and get the same one or two lines. If you have any suggestions on how I can do this, I'm glad to hear you out.
This idea, I really like. I'll work on adding that cutscene.
This is also a good idea, but it just isn't the effect that I'm looking to create with these quests. As for the reason for ridding the world of corruption, isn't this quest a bit late-game for that? I'm not saying it's bad, just that I don't think it would work with this quest.
I'm assuming you're referring to how Serist is looking to become a leader in another region. I can't see any major conflicts this would cause, but I understand it might not be what the content team wants to do. Hopefully, there could be some kind of compromise, whereas Serist is trying to help Fruma/Corkus/etc.

But really, thanks for the ideas!

I really love this! But (constructive criticism), all of the quests appear to take place in caves, in my opinion, maybe one of two of the quests could be elsewhere, like in a temple or in a new area around Eltom for the last quest.

Also, (sorry to be critical again) I felt like the 3rd quest was a bit basic, I know that Bob's tomb is at the same level (and can take a long time) and it would be nice to have a smaller quest to do, but it's basically, speak to a guy, go to cave, fight, speak to guy, finish. - Maybe the cave could be too dark and upon trying to enter it says "This cave is too dark to see anything in, if only you had a light source" , then you have to get a glowing rock or something like that from a nearby mob that will drop it (similar to how dungeon guardians drop keys or the volt goat) and then you can enter the cave.

Personally, I'd like to see this quest line finish before you encounter quests like ToL, Wynn Ex D, Realm of Light, ToA, and Bob's Reincarnation, which are the character's (current) true feats.

I think the player should be done with the Rival storyline before all of these true feats, because both people cannot do those feats. But if you make it so that only the player has those feats, Valir can't really compare as a rival. If you split the feats between the Player and the Rival, then you remove pre-existing quests. So it's best to finish that storyline before the final feats.

Additionally corruption is more of a Wynn phenomenon, so the last quest should be at the level of areas inflicted with corruption (Wynn). This also gives the player more motivation to fight the Corruption in upcoming quests like ToL (if you move the level of the storyline down).

Additionally, I think the idea of a Rival is to foster growth by competition. In my eyes, you are fully developed (experience-wise) by the time you fight the CoW. So you shouldn't have a rival after you are fully developed, thus you shouldn't have a rival when you fight CoW.

The only downside would be having to rework the quest and having to jam the storyline.

What I've noticed about these quests is that a lot of dialogue is missing. For example, After talking with a starting NPC, you will have a post-dialogue dialogue. But, it wouldn't make sense for a character to say "hey, did you get that thing yet?" AFTER the quest is finished. Also, Serist doesn't have a dialogue for a case where the player tries to talk to her without a white stone. Other than that, I think this is a really cool storyline!

Will there be a way to go back to a bank for the white stone at this point without having to fight the boss again? Seems a little unfair to have to do it twice, especially as very few people will think to bring the stone with them. Perhaps the teleporter to the boss room could teleport you straight to Serist if you've already spoken to her?

Also - perhaps you could add a merchant somewhere that sells an 'Impure White Stone' for 16le, dungeon rewards or something, which triggers a third ending where the spell half-works, and Valir is returned but is deformed in some way? I feel like there should be a way for people who either lost the duel or through away the stone to get a semi-good ending if they try hard enough. Maybe add a line to Serist's dialogue mentioning the merchant, and how she'd go to him but can't leave Valir alone.

I have an idea for this too. I think it would make more sense to have the third quest take place on a mountain above Lusuco. Instead of tremors, because I don't see how Valir could realistically cause something like that, maybe he creates small avalanches. The mobs could be changed to falling snow or something suitable for a mountain, found on the slope. The slope could end in a teleporter, that takes the player to Valir's camp, where the quest would play out as normal.

    Good point. I'll add that.
I'd like to do that, but I feel like a third ending might be too much. But I don't want to make the White Stone something that's super easy to obtain. My original idea was that the good ending was only for those who thought the White Stone would be useful for something and held onto it, but maybe I should add another way to obtain it.
