World Regarding: Weapon Skins

is it just me, or does there really need to be a more diverse selection of weapon skins...maybe some of them could be bought for le? like, maybe you could have some sort of merchant in gavel or corkus who'd reskin your weapon to have the skin of another weapon for a cost of emerald blocks or liquid emeralds?

(totally not looking for an excuse to turn my wand into a scythe)

Technicly thats possible, but can not happen due to Eula. Let me explain.

The Eula prohibits any server from selling anything for IRL money that gives you actually useful sh*t that only effects you or from selling anything that can be obtained without paying money.

That's why we can have bombs and totems, since they effect anyone in range, not just the buyer. That's also why we have cosmetics, because they don't actually give you anything that you benefit from.

The other part is the one that effects this. You can't sell anything for irl money that can be obtained in-game. We can sell crates that have weapon skins because you can not get them without using irl money. By adding a method to actually get weapon skins in game, it would be Eula braking to also sell them for IRL money. And honestly, as a cosmetic, its more fit to have them in crates than in game. This also brings in money to keep the server us as people buy crates looking for the skin they want.

...then why not just have the skins purchasable in-game (through le or something) be the default weapon skins, while keeping the crate-exclusive weapon skins as, well, crate-exclusive?

y'know, we can have this discussion as often as we want, but it'd be real nice if people would stop derailing my threads over it...of the three i'm responding to, you're the only one who added anything of value to the thread other than "don't use comic sans."

now, if you people and everyone else could quit trying to derail my threads over my choice of font and actually give something that is constructive to the thread itself, that'd be great.

Comic Sans is fine but the unnatural forced capitalization is what truly triggers OCD. *cough* 'le' *cough*

But on topic, reskinning weapons could be hard as if all different equipment generally has different texture and now you are adding additional texture for per existing texture as a new weapon skin. Or maybe you mean something else.

 

As for the suggestion @SPYROHAWK correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't dirrectly buy weapon skins, only crates
Possibly if this is added the ones you buy can't be scrapped

I don't think this is even possible because there are thousands of items in the game and skins would require entirely new entities. Plus they could have a chance at messing up the WC economy even more than it already is.

I could hardly take this suggestion seriously with that comic sans.

 

could always do what the weapon skins from crates do and use metadata on things like pickaxes and shovels.

also, who said you can't make reskinned items untradable? :p
