Auto Attack

    This has been on my mind for a while now. Is it possible to add a feature that allows the player to automatically attack at their weapon's attack speed by holding down M1? Seriously though, archers have it easy, aside from actually needing to aim. I'm not trying to get carpal tunnel using a weapon with a super fast attack speed.

    A few hiccups may arise, maybe regarding balance changes, but I don't see that as a serious issue if players can already keep up with the attack speeds as it is.

    To add a new key I'd would probably take mods, so highly unlikely, but I would love this xD

    I definitely do support this idea. Any time that i am not using my archer classes it can be a bit irritating having to repeatedly click. Both the noise and the pain in my hand are a bit unpleasant.

    I'm not sure what you mean by key M1, but as far as key's are concerned, client side mods would be required for some keys but it really depends on the key, IE shift click can be detected by listening for player crouching, whereas keys that are not used in the game cannot be detected. If it where to be implemented by making it act similar to archery, and allowing you to hold the left mouse button(as attacking with non archery weapons requires the left mouse button), i'm not quiet sure if that's possible from a coding point of view. I threw a bit of test code together to test this idea and the best i could do was create an auto attack feature by holding the right click button. Creating an auto attack feature by left click may not be possible, because right click events are typically called repeatedly, whereas left click events are typically only called once. IE a right click event will be called until you let go of the right mouse button, whereas a left click event is only called when you first click it(in the case of fighting mobs, it would be when you hit the mob), but will not continue to be called if you are still holding that button down.

    There may be some ways to implement auto-attack, but i'm not sure how well it would turn out. I do hope that the developers here will consider this idea though, as i do think it would be a neat feature.

    What about adding an icon in the compass GUI (maybe move the 2 arrows by one space left and put that icon two spaces right it [so one space right the 2 arrows where they are now]) that may look like two swords crossing, named "Auto attack : OFF" so you just have to click it one time to put it on "Auto attack : ON" and, when you close the GUI and look at mobs you would start hitting them without even clicking on the left mouse button (it may be really hard but huh)..

    I have found a little thing that I use when using Slow, very slow, or super slow attack speed weapons, and I am making a video on it, so I will be posting the thread on it later today... it makes those weapons a bit more bearable for people that don't like the slow attack speed ;)

    Yeah that would definitely be possible, though i'm not sure they would want you to be able to attack mobs without even doing anything (without a mouse button click).

    If the developers here did consider adding an auto-attack feature, I'm not sure how they would want to go about doing it. I just hope they look into it and maybe this feature will be implemented some day. :smiley:

    No new key is needed. M1 just means mouse button one, or left click in this case.

    The easiest way to go about this, I would assume, is to make every weapon work like archers' weapons, and the same with all spell combinations. Then everything will fall into place uniformly :saltedhappy:

    @Camaros maybe we should attack a mob once to "target" him so you will hit him when you look him depending of your attack speed tier..

    I'm suggesting that people have to hit every mob once to then attack each time he can hit the mob in question. So if you're afk, you'll still not hit mobs.
