but seriously, this soul point system is terrible. While the whole idea of losing items at certain amounts of soul points is a good idea, you shouldn't be able to lose your ID'D ITEMS until you are at 0 soul points.

Making it so you need to be careful about losing unidentified items at low soul points is a good idea, because there's still a consequence to being careless and using /kill to travel, but making it so you have even a CHANCE of losing identified items at 5 soul points and lower makes it so it feels like a punishment just playing the game at 5 soul points.

I know this is SUPER late to be talking about, but I just cant understand how this system is good for anyone other than for sadists who enjoy the idea of losing items for builds

(and no I didn't lose any items recently from this, I've just been waiting for a while so that people cant just say I'm mad because I lost something)

No. This just makes death useless again.

Losing your ID'd items are the only things that matter, except un-ID'd Mythics. Your point about the most deaths being at low levels is a point against you; at these levels, you won't have anything that's worth much, so losing them won't matter.

all the 5 sp system does is make 5 sp the new 1 sp, so you cant play the game as much as before, the least they could do is expand the max amount of soul points, all that this does is limit the game

No. The newer system makes the game (slightly) more of a challenge. If you think that's "limiting" the game, you need to play harder games.

Adding higher SP amounts won't help either. It'll just make loss less likely when it should matter.

    Uh no?
You can't lose any ID'ed stuff at the low levels, the %'s scale up as you level
The lower levels are punished very little for dying

I'm not new to games where you lose everything as I play them a lot, but this does like feel like a "challenge," it feels like gambling on losing items, when playing a game it should feel like there's things at stake, then you are actually more careful, not just a chance of losing something, then it becomes "fuck I lost that thing" and you feel like its the games fault, not your own

the new SP system is fine
now while people like @XavierEXEEXE may argue that point, I believe it adds A: a challenge B: a limter to death-crazy idiots C: a way to make death not meaningless (as it was pre-gameplay) and D: a way to force people to find paths when lost instead of just "oh I'm lost, better /kill"

The system encourages people not to die. If you do die, it's your own fault, but you're not really punished unless you die multiple times in a row.

I have never felt like its my fault when I
    A. Die to server lag
    B. Die from mob crowding into a corner
    C. Fall into the void from a command block not triggering or get stuck on the seaskipper

and duh of course you aren't punished unless you die multiple times in a row that was the point of this thread, saying that losing your id'd items at low soul points makes it so that the game feels limited, thus making it feel like you are pressured to either quit playing for the day or PAY ACTUAL MONEY to get soul point bombs

Would you rather have it that it's not a chance of loosing ided items but it's a certainty? I don't get why everyone hates this system it's perfectly fine, just makes it so you have think things through before trying to solo qira 10 times in a row as a level 80.

death was never meaningless, all that gameplay update does is create the illusion that its meaningful, while all it does it make it so you stop playing sooner because no matter how careful you are theres always that chance of dying from a mob sneaking up, lava being hidden really well in the floor (like in rodorok) or some other thing.
    ________________________________
Like I stated, the theory of losing items to lower you go is good, but you shouldnt lose ID'd items until you are at 0, because losing ID'd items randomly can screw builds so hard its unbelievable, while losing un-id'd items is still a threat, making it so you need to be careful still

The server rarely lags, but yes, you're right, that's unavoidable.

    B is your fault, again.

C is a good point, but rarely happens.

If you've died 5 times and are now at 5 SP, then maybe you should just take a break. If nothing's going your way, come back later.
Death before the new SP system was meaningless. Unless you died 6 times in a row there was no risk to it at all.

But ID'd items are one of the only two things that you would be worried about loosing(that and emeralds)

die at 2 or 1 soul points and tell me thats meaningless. Im saying its basicly that, but making it so that it happens at 5 soul points instead, while the max is still 15 soul points, they could at least increase the max to 16 at level 90 to match the trend of every 15 levels 1 additional soul point, and maybe break the rule a bit and make it so you get 17 at level 100 if they decide thats the final cap
    ________________________________
and that's not a bad thing, it still keeps the challenge but doesn't leave people devastated after losing a key item to their build

also please know that im not completely ignoring your point I do see what you mean

So, what, you want to make the SP system worse? You want 5 SP to be the equivalent of 1 sp?

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I'm saying that's what the soul point system basically is right now, making 5 sp the stopping point instead of 1

stopping point for playing the game in general, makes it so you quit sooner, and soul points really fly in something with a checkpoint system like toa and hive

A: if you're so low hp that you can die from that (which is usually one hit before you have enough sense to move) then you should've gone to a safe spot already (seriously why have you not)/ rethink your grinding spot/build (if you can't survive the area DON'T GO THERE)
B: I could search ALL of rodoroc and find maybe 1 or 2 spots where the lava is not absolutely clear to see
EVERYWHERE else in rodoroc there is clear to see lava/fire and if you fall into one of those MASSIVE lava rivers all around the main area of the city
    then it's your own fault
