Game Design Removal Of "???" Quest Req. On Cosmic Armor + Necklace

Hi guys I'll try to make this thread short and on point, the general idea is as written, removal of ??? quest requirement on cosmic armour and necklaces, meaning that your character does not need to complete ??? to wear it.

Im editing in this text because I have received comments about people misunderstanding the idea of this thread and think I'm against the whole ??? quest experience, which is not true
The point of this thread is about the removal of ??? requirement in the rewards so that people are not forced to do the quests multiple times to use the cosmic set and necklace in other classes
the reason is explained below

Purpose of ??? Quest
Grian had said in multiple occasions that ??? is not suppose to be a quest, it is suppose to be a community event that require collaboration of the community to achieve, and they best way they can think of is to utilise the quest system. From here we can already establish that ??? is suppose to be a chance for the community to collaborate instead of a quest that you should do for the reward. While the necessity of ??? quest is kinda redundant at this point in time, I will skim over this as its a topic that have been discussed for many times.

Why Removal of Requirement?
As we have just established, ??? is suppose to be a community event more than a quest, while most of the fun is for the discovery of the clues, i guess some degree of fun (not annoyance) still exist right now by copying answers from the forums in a 2 hour long journey with multiple time-costly puzzles (?)

Anyways, for any player to even acquire the cosmic set and necklace, they must already finish the ??? quest once, which means by doing so they have already achieved the original purpose of the ??? quest - experience community collaboration. Now ??? quest's reward is the best XP armour in the game, which can really help to solve the amount of grinding you have to do in late game. However if someone playing it on their 2nd class, 3rd class or even 10th class, they are not doing it for the experience, they are doing it for the reward. Then, whats the point? Its a very long and annoying quest with a lot of grindy steps that takes like 2 hours to complete, but you already have the armour, you've already achieved the purpose of the community collaboration, i honestly can't see any reason for the requirement to stay.

Counter Arguments
1. Requirement allow the player to do it multiple times
- Why, simply why. The purpose of the community collaboration is already achieved when the player finished it for the first time, people are only doing it for the reward right now, to reduce the amount of grinding you need, which amount of grinding itself is a big problem in wynn. I say if he has done the quest once, he doesn't need to be forced to do it more if he doesn't want to

2. Removal of requirement would make players not wanting to do it multiple times
- While this is my point, it is not exactly my point. If the player doesn't want to do it he can just enjoy his set of cosmic armour and necklace. However there are a lot of situations that the players will likely do the quest for multiple times. Firstly is when they want to acquire a max set or good id set of cosmic armour and the re-id just doesn't do the trick, they can do quest willingly. Secondly is to help other players/friends to do their ??? quest, it is a community collaboration after all.

3. GMs and Mods doesn't really care about you wasting your time doing it multiple times
- thats why the feedback session exist right?

I'm waiting for the new quest system to be implemented fully so that they can just remove ??? and I don't have to look at it in my quest book ever again

 

I personally do not agree. Whilst ???'s original purpose might have been a community event, it has evolved into something else - a community quest. It is the only true quest that requires interaction and experiencing Wynncraft with others (if you discount spamming one button in Reincarnation). I see friends sitting down to devote the time to adventure together time and time again and strangers band together on the Forums to find their way through this quirky quest. I personally have met many of my friends through my ??? runs.

Please read the thread, I'm not denying the "???" quest, its about the requirement in the reward that's making people with multiple class go through unnecessary annoyance to use the armour while they hv already participated in the "community involvement" part. If you have multiple 80+ classes you will understand the pain of going through the same process over and over again just to use the armor, it's as painful as grinding

 

I've done it 5 times now... I used to LIKE that quest..

 

I completely agree, I'm forced to use the "old xp set" on most of my classes. ??? is just too painful to do 3 more times just to use items I already have

 

I can sympathise with this, but then much can be said for the principle of repeating all the quests. ??? gives you an excuse everytime to meet more people or spend time with old friends.

 

How does removing the requirement have anything to do this??? I'm not saying removing the quest, just the requirement for other class to use the armor
If they want to do the quest multiple times and do what you said they can do lol that's their choice and they can choose it becoz they like it but not becoz they are forced to do it to use the rewards

If i want to do ??? (wich i dont i HATE it) i have to make my friends reacht LVL 80 only one of my friends is LVL 92 the others dont even like the server and im horrible communicating in english <3
and btw most of my Wynn friends are mostly in Detlas derping around cuz they dont have anything to do

 

I do argee on this but players who do it for the first time won't find anybody to help them since there are much less people who do the quest

 

I think the ??? was never even meant to be completed multiple times, even the first time is painful.

 

We're not going to remove the requirement, mainly because it is the reward and it is something that you should work to get.
Besides having something like Discord or the planing parlor/??? section is something that is very handy to create groups so there should not be a huge issue with that.
