So here is my idea: (Its complicated)

So, your health -10 = your health gained from gear. My idea is to turn every health from gear into a different integer, called Defense (Not a skill point).

Chipped Leather Helmet
+3 Defense
Basic Item
0 Slots

Your damage, works differently now. It's damage is multiplied by a number that balances to armour, so lets say 5. When you hit an enemy, your damage - their armour divided by your level = damage taken

Which is subtract 10.

You still keep the +5 health per level tho.

This way, taking off gear doesnt instantly make you loose half your health, and makes abit more sense.

It might take some time, but we'll get used to it. The same way we got used to gavel items.

And I already know this'll be rejected.

*cough* I took exactly 0 dmg in herb cave with full pre-endgame gear at the time *cough*

This was how pre gavel was and that made the defense boring and made it so your health was only the 10 hearths of default.
