To start out, you would need to buy a hang glider. This is the only way to obtain them. I think a fair price would be about 1 liquid emerald, but you tell me if you think otherwise.

This would be an item, not armor like a lot of you were probably expecting. When you hold it, you will glide. The momentum / mechanics would be much like wearing an Elytra except for two things. The first one is that you will not be able to use a hang glider after you start falling. This basically means, if I jump off a cliff and hold my hang glider mid-air, I just fall to my death. Alternatively, if I put it in my hand while my feet are still on the ground and then jumped off, I would glide. If you remove the glider from your hand, you also fall.

The second thing is that flying would use up your sprint bar. Slowly but surely, as you fly your sprint bar will start today. I think it should use up 3% of your sprint every second. This would allow you to fly for around thirty seconds, and can get you pretty far if you manage your velocity and angle correctly. Much like with the Elytra, you would be able to dip downwards to go faster and then go back upwards if you have enough momentum. Also, there is a level requirement to use the item, much like weapons. I think level 55 is a good area, but maybe not?

You would be able to buy them at a merchant in the cinfras airbase. The name of the item would be "hang glider" and the lore would be "These strange paper wings have a faint smell of air magic. It says it was made by Ganie in Bantisu temple."

I'm not exactly sure how the Wynncraft team would make the flight mechanics work smoothly. The reason I didn't copy the Elytra item is for A. Originality and B. I don't think players want to be required to play in 1.9 or above. Either way, that's about it for the idea. If I left something important out, please tell me in the comments! It can be abused, it can let people glide over barrier blocks and other places they shouldn't be allowed to go. There also wouldn't be much use for them considering that a majority of wynn and gavel is flat land with few tall buildings to glide off. I could see this being added as a Novelty item. Maybe a shady merchant can sell elyrtas in rymek with the lore being something self aware like "They look alien and out of this world, should they even be on this server?".

What barriers could people get over. Where specifically. Also Wynncraft and Gavel are definitely not flat. I can think of several places in an around literally EVERY single city that would be a good place. Also I think these would be used a lot, especially for assassins. If you manage your speed well you can go very far and fast,

No. Giving them hang gliders wouldn't make "cheaty" classes any more cheaty. It would just make them more fun.

But mobility spells could also increase flight duration by like 300% which would make assassin even worse for mobility.

You can use spells while using your hang glider. You cannot start using your hang glider unless you are on the ground. Assassin is bad for mobility as it is, this is a way to improve it.

Also, the purpose isn't mobility, it is for fun.
