The Freezing Heights Issue

Discussion in 'Feedback' started by Undyne, Oct 19, 2016.

?

Do you think Freezing Heights needs to be "cleared out" with more grinding areas?

Lol remember when the new update came out the announcement thread said gameplay will be "less grindy"

After a few days people discovered some really fucking good grinding spots in the Fortuneteller castle and Sky Islands. It really saved alot of trouble getting to level 100

And then Selvut was like "no no fuck you all" and nerfed/removed the spots

Now we're back to square one, having to grind at freezing heights again

Man this server is great isn't it

This is something that we are aware of and will be working on. There needs to be more grindspots for 90-100 and we intend to add those in the future.
This also should have been in the feedback section, it's technically feedback of the grinding system.

Omfg, the "This is mine. I was here first. F off. Stop stealing my kills. This is MY area!!" people are such pains. I get annoyed at people who killsteal, sure, but those people are just special.

Look, nowhere in the map is "Yours" and yours alone. 600 or so people play Wynncraft daily, and there's not enough areas, let alone good and useful ones, for every player to "own" a part of the map. Plus, some people may need to walk through your area to reach another area, so you can't exactly bitch about people being there if they're only there for a moment or two.

This problem being addressed has been long overdue. Thank you @Undyne xD

That's just unnecessarily hostile. Those spots were ridiculously unbalanced. The only spot that got killed was the Fortuneteller spot, because the mobs being summoned was meant to be a penalty for answering the question wrong instead of a one-way-ticket to 101 within literally a few hours. All other spots were simply rebalanced to actually be in line with the game's usual XP progression. They're right where they should be, not useless. And, another thing, I didn't touch spawn rates one bit. If mobs spawned real quick in one spot or another, they still will. They just give appropriate XP amounts. And besides, the nerfs to the Sky Island mobs were honestly rather minor. If I'm recalling right, as an example, the Dragonlings gave about 3700 XP when they should've been giving about 3200. How does that make it so useless?

I'm not even sure how exploits/fortuneteller stuff got added into this thread...

I only mentioned that Freezing Heights was a bit overcrowded due to the lack of grinding spots for higher levels. When did this exploit stuff have anything to do with this issue?

Please stay on topic. The last thing I need on this thread is a moderator flame war about something that isn't even related to the initial post.

It was brought up as people assumed that these ridiculously broken spots and high XP amounts were intentional. There are plenty of grinding spots aside from the Freezing Heights in the Sky Islands currently, but because their XP has been minorly nerfed so as to actually fit with the XP progression, people seem to be quick to cry "ruined forever".

I don't know if it's just the xp reduction though. I've heard other things about the Sky Island grinding areas that put it off from Freezing Heights. Some people say that the mobs are too tanky, they deal much more damage, they use a pull spell (nullifying camping xp grinding), and they create a constant risk of dying because of the void.

The Fortuneteller thing though was a glitch and people need to forget about it. One of the rules states not to exploit bugs, and while it's irreversible now, those people who leveled to 101 with the glitch technically exploited their level.

Again, this thread concerns Freezing Heights, not a glitch that has been long since removed.

To be honest, the Dragonling cave is very good. I got around 20% of 100 in like 30 mn. Sure they are a bit tanky but take advantage of their weakness.

Look, maybe I follow the wrong mindset or a not very popular one, but I'm just doing what I want others to do to me.

Would I desire a random guy just spamming spells in my general direction ? No, so I don't do it
Would I want another player to stay around the area and therefore reduce the spawn rates ? No, so I don't do it and I leave
Would I be bothered by a guy going across the area just to get some loot chests without harming the mobs I'm hoarding ? No, I wouldn't, so I let them do so
Would I be okay with afk grinding in Frozen Heights ? Fuck no, now let me stay and kill your mobs if you do so.

Now if somebody does what I just described here, I ask them to stop, and if they don't, well I fucking leave.
At least I'm consistent with my views and moral code, for I've seen people who do the very things I'm describing, and yet get pissed at other people for doing the same shit to them minutes later on a different server.

Oh and of course, no need to be rude, even though I've had my fair share of shit thrown at me for asking them politely to leave.

Yeah I've found that if you keep doing /class, the Dragonlings of the Depths spot is waaaaay more efficient than Frozen Heights at level 98, tbh.

I agree, though the mods, GM's and Jumla in his cage are working hard to make new spots. Once they come out (Probably Soon™️) We can get grinding again, but in the meantime, I'd recommend starting a new class for the thrills you may have missed out on your main, and the quest LE is cool too.
