Disclaimer: I have already made this idea before, but it is from 5 months ago, so it's outdated and I can't necropost it. I will be posting a very similar idea, but it will be more fleshed out and changed. If you want, you can read the idea here, if you really want to.

I am sure you have come across many mobs and small locations throughout the game with no context behind them, such as the Walgukers in the Kander Forest or the Hellkites of the Molten Heights, or that one guy with a hard-to-pronounce name in an item description. I am guessing 99.9% of you forgot about them a few seconds after you saw them. That is because they have absolutely no context about them whatsoever. Sure you can cram information about the world into NPCs or the environment, but it gets stale if that's the only method of showing lore. However, I know a working solution.

Portable books! books that contain lore and knowledge of the wynn province ranging from descriptions of political systems, historical encyclopedias, to people's secret diaries and journals.

Here is how they will work:
Across the map ranging from city libraries, hard-to-reach corners, and even from mobs themselves, there will be unread books. They will be passive mobs with only one health that are completely immobile. After killing them, they drop unread books. The unread and read versions are untradable. To be able to read them, you must right click them while in your hand and this message will pop up:
You have successfully added this book to your collection. You may access it in the Compass at any time.
To actually read your books, you must go to the compass menu, where there will be a new icon to the left of your skill points here:
    2016-09-11_21.36.00.png
(I intended to put it where the skill point reset button is, but I couldn't find anywhere else to put it but there. Damn it Jumla)
The item will be an enchanted book labeled: "Your Library" where you can access 4 different categories of books:

Informational Texts or Guides: They display info or help guide someone in a 3rd person, unbiased point of view. Ex: The fiery wildlife of the Molten Heights, A beginner's guide to combat: Your Weapons and Spells.

Historical Documents: Encyclopedias or Documents of History that are display true facts, as well as theories up to interpretation on the topics. Ex: The Conquests of Remikas, Brief History of Wynn, Vol 1.

Myths and Folktales: Short Stories of Fiction set in the context of wynncraft
The Orc and the Pig, The Knight of the Laughing Donkey.

Primary Resources and Journals: Texts that are written from a 1st person POV. It ranges from personal diaries to notes on particular findings. Ex: My life as a hero, by Siegfried. My life as a Gylia Watch Paladin.

The books will be listed in alphabetical order, and you left-click the one you want to read. It will appear in any empty inventory slots, and you can have as many as you want out at one time. You cannot bring any into your inventory if you don't have any inventory space left. To get rid of them, simply press your drop key and it will vanish into thin air.

I think this will help add a ton of more lore into the game and to give almost everything throughout the world of wynncraft at least a little bit of backstory. It will help make the world more immersive if there was a lot more backstory outside the quests. It would also give the lore fanatics a lot to do, as cryptic messages or important lore details can be included in these books.

    Constructive Criticism is appreciated!

This would be pretty great in all due honesty, however writing detailed law takes a while.

I love this idea but I'm afraid this would ruin the attempts at organic story telling. Google dark souls story telling if you want know more about organic story telling

I generally do not know a lot about the lore of Wynncraft, excluding the Decay of Gavel and the Corruption of Wynn, so I feel this would make a great addition to the game
