As the title says I have been thinking of gods and how to create a detailed world. What if there were gods?
Too be honest I have been playing too much Skyrim but this is a really good idea. Picture temples and statues of different gods spread around Wynn and Gavel. In skyrim you have the nine divines (gods) and their temples and statues spread across the world.
Between maltic and emerald trail there could be a statue of X. South/east of nivla another statue. You could sacrifice and recieve a blessing of some kind?
Not only would it give detail to the world, but new items can get special lores. Perhaps a quest where you would have to investigate someone worshipping an evil demonic god?

This is just a suggestion and something I think would be nice to add to the game. It brings details to those who wish to master wynncraft.
Please keep it serious and comment your thoughts.

We have about 2 known Gods.

    Cow (Salted)

    And the eye of wynn

The Eye of Wynn is, an eye... of Wynn... That looks over Wynn and Gavel... And it appears in many of Wynn's promotional art

But there is a religious group in Wynn that worships Salted (an admin of the server and owner) and many of their churches are located in minor cities (e.g Ternaves, Elkurn)

Just keep in mind that is our God

    ^ That all sinking in?^

But there is also the Eye of Wynn which could be considered a God but hasn't been confirmed yet, but could possibly make an appearance in the far future because of Wynn Ex Site D inside a shack in a major part of the story (won't spoil too much of it)

Ok I understand that the silly community has pulled admins to gods of wynn and such. Maybe you could hire a fictionist or something to make up some really good lore behind everything. I am sure there are a lot of people who would want a detailed history of worship.

This is all under the assumption that there are Gods in Wynn.

In my opinion, the Eye in the logo isn't a God but simply the Beast of Darkness, similar to how Orphion is the Beast of Light and CoW could be considered the Beast of Corruption.

The Bovemist Churches could simply be founded on the belief cows in general are divine.

No, seriously, look at the bovemist churches, they worship salted.
I believe there's reference to a thing called a witherist/anti-bovemist, too. They worship peppered.
Then we have WynnExcavation, they have a whole cult that worship "The Eye."

I think there is a lot of potential for religion in regards to in-game lore but I'm guessing it hasn't been touched on too much (or at all) because it's a bit of a touchy subject for some people.

I've thought about having religions in games too and I think that it's a good detail and that it makes the world feel more alive. The thing is, you shouldn't be able to get a "blessing" from some god. The world of Wynn is diverse in species, races and cultures. Having a god "bless" you in a game is proving that that religion is true (in the game ofc). But what if there are multiple religions? Are all of them true? Is only one true? Are they all false? Religion is a matter of faith, and having absolute proof of a certain religion being true would defeat the point of having multiple religions in a game world. Having only one religion in a medieval world as big and diverse as Wynncraft's wouldn't feel very realistic. If you want a certain religion to be true in a game world, then that's fine. It is a fictional world after all. But then there's the aforementioned problem of having no diversity. It wouldn't be a religion, it would be a fact of that world, even if it was similar to a religion (worshiping and all that). I think that religions in games are better off as myths, especially in large worlds with many religions (kind of how there are many myths in, well, mythic items' lores).

Also, we have bovine churches around Wynn and some other places of worship too IIRC. They don't have any use because Wynncraft's world has no one true religion, and that's probably how the devs want it. That doesn't mean that there aren't some "holy" things (like the healing water in that one quest in Dernel Jungle, Grand Youth I believe), but you don't really see anyone worshiping that fountain. That is because it's taken for granted as a part of the world. Mystical things happen and are expected to happen because it's a fantasy world. Religions would make these things seem out of the ordinary even in that world, which is against what fantasy is supposed to make you believe.

tl;dr - Having some religions mentioned could be a good idea, but they shouldn't have an effect on the world since Wynncraft's world is too diverse for having one true religion. Maybe some aspects could be true about them but not the whole things.

Also, why is it "Hephaestus forged greaves"? Hephaestus is the greek god of fire and forge. So does that mean that wynncraft has greek gods?
I like that idea since I like the idea of greek gods...
