I can't stand having to go to lower-leveled areas to ensure myself that I won't get killed and lose all of my gear. There are many beds in cities and across the land that you can sleep in. I propose that while sleeping, you earn 1 SP every 5 minutes, leaving the SP generation looking like:
    • 1 SP per hour offline
    • 1 SP per 20 minutes online
    • 1 SP per 5 minutes while sleeping
I struggle to see at night often, and there's like theoretically 10 minutes of sleeping time per minecraft day. Obviously this would not work if SP generation is checked every 20 minutes, but would work if SP is generated on a "point system" where you get 1/20th of a point every minute towards generation (which really should be how it works if it isn't).

Let me know what you think, I just joined today so maybe this is unbalanced for higher levels or something.

I dont think so, cause you can find stuff that has Soul point regen, and you have chance to get 2 SP instead of 1.

It's a good-hearted idea, I'm sure, but I fear that this may nullify much of the fear and weight associated with death. If sould points become too easy to get, one may stop being careful. People might begin acting reckless because they have the means to easily make up lost soul points. Alas, this makes the game less fun overall, as there is no longer any reason to make an attempt at prolonged survival.

As it stands, at least for me personally I'm very aware of my SP and not at all careless. With very little SP I don't want to go anywhere except lower-level places that I can essentially oneshot everything. Anyone else like that will either:
    • Log off / stop playing out of fear of death
    • AFK for points
    • BS around in cities for hours to build up SP.
I really want to be able to play the game, but without any SP, I might get completely wiped and have to start all over gear-wise, so you either alt-tab or log out and play again tomorrow.

It's not like you can just farm SP like crazy, you only have a chance to sleep for 1-2 SP every MC day.

You do make a fair point... alright, I concede. I clearly did not think long enough on my own position. Sleeping is better than the other three alternatives, even if it lessens what I see as an exciting aspect of the game. I will now proceed to re-vote to reflect this new stance.

Wait... No re-votes? Oh Heavens! I'm afraid I cannot re-vote. I just hope that enough people vote well to cancel out my hasty decision...
