World Rescue Missions

    Those of you who have played the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series would have a pretty good idea as to what I am talking about: Rescue Missions.

    There could be notice boards in major cities, specifically Detlas, Troms, Llevingar and Cinfras.

    The notice boards would consist of a 3x5 area layered with signs. Each sign will show the outline of the mission, like so:

    The Mission Types are as follows:

    Rescue
    Supplies
    Escort

    To view the details of a mission, simply click on the sign. This will display a detailed information box in your chat, for example:

    The difficulty of Missions scale from Very Easy/Easy/Medium/Hard/Very Hard/Extreme

    Very Easy missions involve easy-to-reach and not very dangerous locations.
    Easy missions involve hostile environments but are relatively easy to get through.
    Medium Missions involve hostile environments that are dangerous to most players.
    Hard Missions involve hostile and obscure locations that are very rarely explored.
    Very Hard Missions involve difficult navigation through hostile environments, usually including the escort of a far distance or bringing rare supplies.
    Extreme Missions involve extraordinarily dangerous environments, escorting of thousands of blocks or bringing extremely rare supplies.

    The level requirement will be spread across the 15 signs, so there will be a mission for everyone.

    Rewards consist of:

    Rescue Missions - Emeralds and/or Items
    Supply Missions - Emeralds and/or Items
    Escort Missions - Emeralds and/or Items

    The experience gained should be around 10% of what a quest at that level would yield.

    Details for Mission Types

    Rescue Missions are simple: there is an NPC 'stuck' somewhere on the map and the player have to find them. Interaction with the client will end the mission, returning the player to the last city visited.

    Supply Missions involve finding an NPC and bringing them specific items. This can include consumables like Pigmen Meat, Apples or even Potions, some may also ask for weapons and armor, the rarer item requested, the larger the payoff.

    Escort Missions require a bit more effort: interact with an NPC and they will become a friendly 'mob' who follows you around, your job is to escort them to the location required, usually a city. If the client dies, the mission will fail. Escort Missions usually have the highest payoff.

    GUI

    If you click Yes to accept the mission, the mission details will be added to your quest book as the second page, right after the menu. Each player can only have 1 active mission at once to stop them from hoarding all the missions for themselves. The quest book would look something like this:

    Click here to discard the mission

    Mission Generation

    The 4 cities mentioned will each have different missions available, they will generate one new mission every 60 seconds (unless if all 15 slots are full).

    Each player can only accept up to 1 mission every 30 minutes. Discarding or failing a mission will not change this timer.

    If a player finds a Mission NPC but is not the one who accepted the mission, the NPC will simply reply "Sorry, but I have already received contact of a/an rescuer/supplier/escort."

    Other Information
    • The item rewards from Missions will be unidentified.
    • Supply Missions require players to have the required item/s in their inventory upon interaction.
    • Missions are different per city, per world. So if you did not find a fitting mission, you can always hop worlds and look for new ones.
    • Once a mission has been accepted, the sign disappears from the notice board. If you click accept after the sign has already disappeared, it would say "Sorry, but someone else has already accepted this mission!"
    • If the player leaves the world or the server, their active mission will be discarded.
    • There are no penalties for discarding or failing a mission.
    • Clients from Escort Missions will not have any combat ability, so it is the player's job to lead them around dangerous areas and protect them from harm.

    Can't be done. Breaks the EULA. You cannot have hybrid-currency; if this were to be implemented and allowed collection of Gold Coins, the GC shop would have to be shut down. If it is obtainable in-game via in-game methods, it cannot be purchased with real-world cash.

    Dang, I thought it was okay as long as the GC itself didn't offer gameplay advantages. I guess I'll remove that.

    The thing is, when a passive mob is following you and no one is around, it's fine. But when someone gets too close (from past experience) the mob loses interest in both of you and you are sometimes unable to re-gain its attention. What happens then? Other than that, this is a wonderful idea IMO.

    It would be interesting, but... you really want to repeat the horrible times in Resident Evil 4 when the girl was an stupid npc?

    You can modify the code °C°

    But the way he worded it left no room for that. He said it turned into a passive mob. It would possible be better to make a minecart track underground from the point of rescue to the point of return, and then after you talk to the NPC it would ride an invisible stack of mobs from that minecart, and be moved slowly along the track, all the while things would still attack it, and then it wouldn't get distracted
