Mage And Boss Drops

What are your thoughts on this....
This is about large group boss fights

My main class is a Mage, and i have always had trouble getting a boss drop because as a mage your main job is to heal. And only heal. IMO I think there should be an extra way to get boss drops, and seriously, I really do love bosses drop multiple of there items now... thanks for that.

If you arent mage all your going to be wanting from them during a boss fight is heals, right? You arent giving them a chance to get that 20% dmg required for a drop. Especially if your on a 10+ people raid fighting Qira.

If my whole strategy for helping to kill bosses is wrong, tell me. Because by now I have been in SO many Qira raids and have still failed to get a Master Catalyst.

I didnt make this thread to get hate or be lashed out back with negative comments. Im just stating a recent problem ive had.

But i totally agree that as a mage you can only heal to help your team , you NEED to heal so i agree
there has to be another way

 

you just have to stand on the catalyst for 20 sec and you will pick it up, this works on all mob drops

 

I know that, in a party with 10+ people who dont have one... it gets a little diffucult

 

I think, while it might be really hard, but, it would be nice if it also counted the health given by Heal.
Probably impossible though.

 

I have experienced this first hand my friend and I were doing Amadel final form last night. As an archer I was the one doing most of the damage and she was healing me. Part of the problem is that a Mage can't do 26,000 dmg and heal people. I think it should be changed to work on a party basis. So if you fight a boss while in a party it has one drop for each party member. Just because a player doesn't do a lot of damage doesn't mean they haven't played an important role in the fight.

 

The only problem to that is when players will ask for someone stronger to kill a boss, like CoW, but they just watch the fight, they'll still have the drop.

 

Maybe if they added in that the players in the party had to be within a certain distance of the boss that way they would have to be involved with the fight somehow

 

Even with that, still easy to cheat the system, and mage do hell damages with elemental weaknesses
