World Mute Shouts Or Other People

Not sure if this is the right prefix or not...

So I don't remember that much before the Gavel update, as I stopped playing for a while, however what I probably do remember is that shouts weren't nearly as annoying. Ever since the update there have been so many shouts told in chat, and most of them are stuff I and many others really don't want to see. You can find everything from Star Wars spoilers to people bashing other video games. Sometimes there are things that aren't unintelligible, like people reporting bugs or asking for help, but this gets really annoying after a while, too. There is a serious lack of people announcing mention-able things like double xp servers, item bombs, and clarifying things about the update, and way too many people doing things like telling other people to spam someone's chat.

"Just ignore them"
If you've ever seen a shout then you'd know it is really hard it ignore. The actual message takes up a noticeable box that takes up a 3rd to 4th of your screen. And also the message is always in bright blue.

"Turn off your chat"
Yes, because shouts are the only things you see in chat. I guess if you hate your friends and don't want to msg them and don't want to interact with any of the other adventurers around you then this is a viable option.

Now I'm not implying that everyone who shouts is automatically annoying or anything (it's really just a handful of people with seemingly infinite amounts of shouts who are the biggest trouble-makers), I'm just saying at this point in time you get more out of not reading the shouts rather than reading them. So you're having a fun time on this super intense quest and then some kid goes and shouts "What is my favourite colour" or something stupid and the immersion is ruined. That's how I feel a lot of the time nowadays due to the overflowing of shouts.

Wynncraft should have a feature :
When someone is abusing shouts by either making useless ones or doing too much of them, they chat will automatically get spammed by thousands of random messages.
What do you think of that ?
This should definitely be add to the pole don't you think ?

 

I've never seen this AJH900 guy shouting, could you send me a few screenshots (if you have some) of his shouts so I know what people are complaining about? He seems very infamous, but I've never seen him.

The amount of useless shouts I see is insane, there should really be a /toggle shouts to stop you from seeing them.

Well... I see where this is comming from, and I do agree that some people use their shouts in obnoxious or useless ways.
What we have to realise is that people pay for shouting. If everybody would mute shouts, then there would be no reason to even use shous anymore, and people selling Legendary stuff get no more attention or people wanting to kill CoW or Bob dont get attention anymore.

But ayy muting players in normal chat would be fine.

 

Very, very, very annoying. He has been like this since Gavel, and this is only a small, very minuscule amount of his obnoxiousness

And I think that the ability to mute shouts would be awesome, taking into consideration of what @TheGreatPiggy is saying about the mood and tone of the game/quest, and for saving some of your nerves

and the good pun shouts
and the good joke shouts

I've seen a few of his shouts today ("Cheese" "Hey guys, try this trick: Add 3 to your age, and that's how old you'll be in 3 years!") and he's obviously just trying to seek attention. The problem with shouts, however, is they're harder to see when people are paying attention. If he was talking in normal chat, he'd be easy to ignore by not responding, but with shouts, there's few ways to respond. I suggest people don't counter-shout him, as that's all he wants, attention. Though it seems that one of the only ways we can really stop him is by muting him, as he'll no longer get the attention he wants and will stop, hopefully.

 

Yes, I do agree with all the useless shouts, such as "Oh please help me with these rodents in ragni; I'm lvl 15 I've been to detlas, so don't laugh at me" (cough cough totally not AJH900 cough cough). But other than this, I'm fine with the shouts.
