Localization

    Okay. So now with the items being saved as a long string of characters I was wondering if localizing the items and the quests ingame was possible. Not everyone is good at English, therefore a localization system could be added.
    Perhaps a new command "/language [language]" could be added and when used, all the stuff that is displayed in any inventories and in the chat would be changed to that language.

    I think, it would only cause more lag.
    (If this even is possible, after the Gavel Update)

    We'll, if it causes any lag, it would only be a tiny bit compared to the other lag causing stuff.

    Say we add four localized languages. That's actually 4x lag due to one thing.

    Changing an item or mob or anything's name changes it's NBT value and that isn't client-side. That is server-side, meaning it puts strain in the server.

    Determining where the user is from, descending the correct feed, and storing their data in four NBT values is uselessly expensive.

    Maybe they could put language packs up for download on the website that you would put on top of the WynnPack that rename everything.

    Didn't I say anything about a command? And why would it require sooo many NBT values? The only thing needed is a database of the names and change the NBT when the user asks for it.

    The reason it causes strain on the servers is the conversion. Say I log into toque.Wynncraft.net (theoretical Portuguese localized server) and leave with three items named Determinação, Esmeralda and Detlas' Legado. Those are NBT values stored in the localized Portuguese server. To convert those, the English servers have to see the difference and change the names. Imagine 100 people or even 500 people doing this in quick succession.

    No, I did not say anything about completely localized servers. Only the info and the items will be changed. And we already have a system similar running: The quest book. It updates everytime, every page, when we do a new quest. So they could add a system that does the same with the items.
    For example:
    I log in and tpye /language jp. My "Bob's Mythic Bow" would be changed into "神話のボブの弓" or something, and it would stay that way. Next time when i log in and type /language en, it would change back.

    I always have problems finding things..
