With the influx of players thanks to the Gavel release, I think something like daily objectives could help keep people coming back. I know the daily reward chest is an incentive but I think objectives could be more motivational, especially if you had more than one in a day.

    Outline of idea
My idea would be to have 1-3 objectives to complete in a day, these would be similar to missions - for example "Kill 100 mobs for exp". Or perhaps "trade/duel 10 players for emeralds/exp", or "complete a quest for exp/emeralds." Or even something wildly different like "visit 5 town banks for emeralds"

To develop the mob killing objective further, you could say to kill mobs over a certain level (which is determined by player level) rather than a specific mob. This would avoid things like "kill 1000 bob's reincarnation," this would also make this sort of objective more achievable within a few hours of playtime.
Killing a slightly more sizeable amount of mobs without a mission's time limit would also encourage some grinding but with a purpose. This would help players progress across quest gaps without losing interest and giving up.

Also, to encourage returning on consecutive days, after completing all your objectives for perhaps 5 days, you could reward some bonus exp, emeralds or even a couple of GC for long stretches of consecutive days.

    Benefits
    • Motivates players to come back
    • Gives players stuck in a quest gap something to do
    • Encourages progress
    • Could help liven up grinding

Yes but missions are random, sometimes unachievable, and don't reward consecutive completion.
Also, time limits of usually under 5 minutes is very limiting in terms of letting the player choose to do the mission instead of any quest or other activity that they're doing. I've found missions to be quite inconveniently timed while playing with friends.
By giving the player a whole day you give them a lot more freedom to complete the mission in their own time.
