You should be able to say [item] in chat and your item appears in chat. Not like a picture but the name. If you then hover your courser over it, you will see the damage/protection and everything on it. For an example (not trying to advertise) go on cosmicpvp.me and try it.
Again, I wasn't trying to advertise but it might help you to see it because I'm not great at explaining things.

This would be nice if coupled with a good auction-house system, so it's not just people spamming chat with "selling [item] buy pls".
