Hey, this is just an idea, but what if Wynn had an Australian server?

I know for a fact that there are a LOT of people who would benefit from an Australian server. Me and many of my friends lag quite a lot due to the far location of the servers.

When I say make an Australian server, I just mean like a couple worlds being Australia-hosted. There would be a separate IP Address but only two or three of the worlds would be Australian. I and many others would also be willing to donate, but the lagginess of the server holds many people back.

However you look at it, an Australian server would greatly benefit the community (Including those not from Australia, but close to it) and should definitely be developed.

Thanks for reading this post and make sure to give your thought in the comments! What do you think?

Melbourne, Australia. Would love it, but maybe it's not necessary (yet).

Sorry, but no. Coming from another Australian (me). It may seem like there are a lot of aussies playing, but in reality, we would be weighed out by about 400:1 (probably not but round about). Also, if we have Australia servers, what about US servers? And so on.

I agree, but we don't even have UK or US or wherever it's even hosted servers. Maybe it's not needed?

Also, you should add a poll! Probably have "Yes", "Maybe" and "No" options.

The servers right now (i think) are hosted in EU, its hosted in the EU because most of the players that play on wynncraft, are not far from the EU. Also if the server will be hosted (for example) in the US, only people from: Japan, America, Australia, and more, will be able to play on the server without any lag.
And jamer is right, add a poll for: Yes, No and Maybe.
    Thanks for reading

A US server is just as laggy as an EU one for an Australian.

Also, I didn't realise there was no US server! That should be on a list too.

I know it is a lot more than 400:1! There are a lot of aussies playing. I have 3 friends in real life who are addicted to Wynncraft and I have also met a lot of people online who are from Australia. It won't cost too much either, I'm only talking about a couple of servers for like 40 players each. The donations would most likely outweigh the cost. A main reason there aren't too many aussies is because of the lag. A new australian server would bring many new people in, making Wynn more popular.

No, I'm pretty sure wynncraft is being hosted in Canada. I agree it would be nice to have servers hosted in other parts of the world. But I doubt that will happen anytime soon due to Gavel and many other issues.

seriously? i know i might understand ppl who ask for seperate european and american servers, but never heard of australia, if this is a joke, its against the forum rules so pls delete this post. if not, nevermind that.

another thing: Wynn is international. Gavel is international. If it wasnt for Martin who ended racism, it might make sense asking for Australian servers or American servers or European servers, but world had improved.

there are a lot of servers with an aussie hosted server, I ran the country statistics on the old forums and most players were from Europe(Germany), America (USA) and Ocenia (Australia) by that order. the thing is that Australia is isolated and has really bad connection to other servers.

The problem is other places will request dedicated servers and they would then have to spend time and money getting reliable hosts for the 3 main areas, as Yuno said the three main servers would have to be EU, NA(or another part of America) and Oceanic. This would be a lot harder for them as I do believe that the money to host the server is coming from donations and possibly the founders pockets (hopefully not), for there to be different servers based on location would probably require for the server to get a sponsor or another way of bringing in money apart from donations. And i highly doubt the guys would sell out to a sponsor anytime soon.

I can't really say much on this subject as i don't know how much money Wynn earns is spent on the hosting, but at some point the donations will stop since people will get tired of the game and lose interest at some point. My point being is that for the server to stay up they need the constant supply so as not to dig into the 'rainy day pocket' If the donations stop then the server will be running on backup funds. This is a common problem for literally every MMO out there, thats why some are heavily criticized by being pay to win, since a lot of the function will be blocked by subscription fee's or the need to spend IRL money to buy certain stuff in game (micro-transactions). That's why generally after a few years time you see MMO's stop from being paid access from launch to introducing a Free-to-Play mode. Unfortunately Wynncraft can't do that as for starters it's already Free-to-play all you need is a working version of PC Minecraft, and the currently EULA stops servers from using micro-transactions and gaining money by selling game affecting items hence the change stopping vips from having 2x xp gain and Assassin being a vip only class.

Overall Wynncraft works like any other MMO out there and is hosted by the fans money. If you want examples just look around with a google search heck even the popular EA game Fifa involves micro-transactions now, but that's just a topic of greedy EA.

    Pretty sure Capa´s from Australia.

Plus, there isn´t even a US server, so perhaps that is a higher priority as I would assume more players are from there.

The amount of times that we should have a "Insert Nationality Server here" is beyond me.
I honestly cannot even recall if the Admins have ever put the ideas like this into effect.
And I mean, if we are all speaking English here, there's no language barrier. XD

Well you see, it's about latency and not languages. Multiple servers reduces/eliminates/equalises delay to the server, thus making everyone able to play on a level playing field. The dilemma here is that Australians are a minority, albeit a large minority, and latency equality is only actually needed on a PvP server. Don't get me wrong though; if all servers could provide high ping to all players on their respective servers, then that would be fine, but. I'm not sure if setting up multiple servers cost money (and I don't doubt it), so that could be a reason why servers don't already have location-specific servers.

About the money part, they could replace unused servers for US and Oceania servers.

There are not. Timezones, remember? When us Aussies are sleeping, there are tons of players from europe and the US playing. So when they are asleep and we are on, it seems like heaps of Aussies are playing. Sad truth, I know :(

Too Damned local. More servers are being pushed out in USSR, Because its cheaper. and not to be mean, but this is probably just a server rack in Grian's or Salted's room. if this was the actual case, I'm not going to pay for someone to have Australian servers in their bedroom.

Rating: 4/10. -- Servers in Australia is too specific and greedy. its most likely that if they were going to do that, they would start with U.S. first, then start to go widespread. Even I thought about just bouncing a connection from someones computer to another, until they reach mine.
