So, there were a few instances when, as I was playing, I encountered huge amounts of fps lag (on the scale of 2-3 seconds per frame), including, but not limited to:

    - The ship battle in Galleon's Graveyard
    - Battling the Uth guardian
    - The area with lava geysers in Rymek
    - Staged battles between Dwarves and Doguns in the dogun village in Dwarves and Doguns 4
    - Multiple mobs using flamethrower/leap at once
    - Ice spikes summoned by Theorick in the Ice Barrows boss room
    - All the moving parts in the Fallen Factory
    - Other things that I can't list at the top of my mind

Most of these scenarios have to do with one of two causes: excessive particles or large amounts of stimultaneous block updates. I don't have a good solution for the latter, but the former could be fixed by adding a "less lag" option in the /toggle command that reduces the amount of particles.

There's already an option in the vanilla Minecraft menu to decrease the amount of particles that are produced, in video settings.

    just for clarification purposes

Escape > Options > Video Settings > Particles, click until it says Minimal and you'll be at the least laggy setting for you likely

Maybe you could try improving your computer? (e.g. adding more ram, getting a better graphics card)

I would recommend you to use optifine (Minecraft mod), it really does help in reducing lag and you can disable particles.

I'm pretty sure 1.18 added a /particles or /toggle particles command that can help reduce some of the lag! You could try that
