    My computer can barely connect to wifi. Every server I try to join in minecraft times out 2 minutes after joining. Every time. Download speeds are super slow.

    No you can't. If you have 8 GB of RAM you can't use it all. Other things need memory too and Minecraft most likely wont start if you put all RAM into it.
