    Grian's lore doesn't directly mention CoW though. I'd argue it was something else, judging by the sealed letters. https://wiki.wynncraft.com/index.php/Sealed_Letters
    The text in the letters is consistent with the story, but it suggests Bob died fighting some sort of beast in Dern (dark creature of the night in a land "far" away), rather than CoW. I just thought I'd give my 2 cents on this.
